<petname> suddenly starts barking and swims... uh, walks out over the surface of the water. He returns pushing a floating barrel with his nose and yipping excitedly.
You give him a belly-rub, or at least wave your hand around the space where the ghostly image of his belly seems to be, and he seems to interpret that as a belly-rub.
