It's Fun To Stay There
It's Fun To Stay There

You step into a large sprawling building constructed from a bunch of different shacks and sheds joined together, with a sign over the entrance reading "YMHA". A clerk in the front room greets you:

"Hello there, welcome to the Young Men's Hobo Association. Are you looking for a room for the night?"

You glance around at your not unclean but decidedly ramshackle surroundings, and decide to stick with your campsite. "No thanks. Do you have any other services?"

"Sure! Would you like to take a dip in our swimming pool?"

"You have an actual swimming pool here?"

The clerk clears his throat. "Yes, well, we have a hole in the ground filled with water. That's a swimming pool by basic definition."

"Right. Anything else?"

"Well, for a small membership fee, you can use our weightlifting room, or the sauna. Only 5 hobo nickels."

(You currently have X hobo nickels.)

Check out the sauna room

The clerk takes your nickels and directs you to the changing room. Soon, you're sitting in a very hot, very moist room wearing nothing but a towel, with several hobos who have towels of their own (thank the gods for small mercies).

It doesn't take very long before you're sweating like a pig. This may, for some reason, be considered healthy, but you're in a small room with several hobos who are also sweating like pigs. The stench is frankly unimaginable, and you stumble dizzily out of the sauna afraid you might pass out at any moment.

You clean up as best you can, and leave the marketplace. God, you can still kind of smell it. Hopefully it'll wear off soon and you won't have to scrub yourself down with sandpaper and lye.

You acquire an effect: The Sweats
(duration: 20 Adventures)

Check out the weightlifting room

The clerk takes your nickels and directs you to the weightlifting room. Most of the weights are jerry-rigged constructions of hunks of rock, bricks, and so forth, but hey, they're still heavy.

You work out for a bit, and then a hobo asks if you'd like to parter up for the medicine ball. After he explains that no, he's not asking you out on a date to a pharmacologist's dance, the two of you spend some time hucking a leather bag filled with gravel at each other. Eventually you leave, feeling battered and tired but definitely tougher.

You acquire an effect: It Didn't Kill You
(duration: 20 Adventures)

Forget it

You decide to find a less sweat-oriented way to spend your time, and the clerk gives you directions out of the marketplace.

Occurs as a choice in the Another Part of the Market subadventure in Hobopolis Town Square.
