They roll their eyes at you with a "Really?" kind of expression. You notice an odd sensation. The hairs on your arms stand up, and the air seems... lighter, somehow. Thinner. You notice a faint smell of ozone. A breeze picks up, blowing in from the east, and gets steadily stronger. Clouds roll in, filling the sky. They're white at first, but they quickly darken, blotting out the sun with a roiling mass of gray. The ozone smell is very strong now -- almost a flavor on the gusting wind. You put a hand on your hat to keep it from blowing away. A light rain starts to fall -- pattering on your armor, the ground, your opponent, the scenery -- random, widely-spaced drops that remind you of an orchestra tuning their instruments before the symphony begins. The sky is completely black now, the wind raging around you. The rain gathers increasing force, slashing at the earth, then pounding it. You are soaked to the bone, shielding your face with an upraised arm to provide enough of a gap in the torrential downpour to breathe without drowning. There is a brief pause, as though the universe is taking a breath and holding it. The sky cracks, like a doorway opening into a universe made entirely of light. There is an instant of the brightest light you've ever seen, and the loudest noise you've ever heard, before your senses shut down and you go momentarily blind and deaf. Your opponent takes 5000 damage. |
