- The name of this item (and its description) is a cross between a Manwich (and its advertising slogan: "A sandwich is a sandwich, but a Manwich is a meal") and painter Édouard Manet.
- In 1863, Manet's painting The Luncheon on the Grass was rejected by the Paris Salon, the official art exhibition of France, and was instead displayed at the Salon des Refusés.
