Obtuse Chartreuse
You see another bright flash of color in the murky Mer-kin seabed, and investigate to find an odd artifact. It's kind of greenish-yellowish-greenish-yellow, made out of yarn, and appears to be a half-constructed crocheted cylinder about the same size as a roll of toilet paper. That's weird -- someone was apparently making a little toilet paper cozy. I mean, does toilet paper really get that cold? Or are their really people who are offended by the sight of a naked roll of toilet paper? What kind of a person would make such a bizarre little garment?
Then it hits you: the same person who would crochet a cover for a box of kleenex, and little socks for the feet of their end tables: a little old lady! Grandma Sea Monkee must have left this, too! You follow the trial of yarn, but it abruptly ends just a few feet away, most likely severed by a Mer-kin's sharp teeth. Those bastards!
