You stumble across a group of gamblers shooting craps, and throwing dice, in a particularly seedy section of the alley. One of the gamblers approaches you.
"Hey, buddy," he says. "I've got the best advice you'll ever hear. All you have to do is trade meat pouches with me for a second. Whaddaya say?"
You're curious, but not stupid. You hand him your spare, empty meat pouch and he hands you his.
"Okay, the advice is this: You've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, and . . . know when to RUN!"
He shouts, and runs off with your spare meat pouch. Leaving you his meat pouch, which is not empty.
You follow the gambler's advice and walk away, chuckling.

- The advice given by the gambler is right out of the lyrics for the Kenny Rogers song, "The Gambler". The title of the adventure is also a lyric from the song.
- This adventure portrays a grift known as a "trust trade". Currently common as a MMORPG trading scam, it can also be seen in the opening scene of The Sting.
