Sometimes a gunfight is to the death. Sometimes it's... longer.
RE: Help! Desperados!
This must be the skeleton of one of the workers, back when this was an active mine. Or maybe one of Pecos Dave's goons got really, really lost. Either way, it seems really excited to see you, though in less of a "rescue" sort of way than a "misery loves company" sort of way.
RE: Haunted Boneyard
The face skin is usually the first to go, so nobody could fault you for mistaking these zombies for skeletons. They're definitely zombies, though.
RE: Madness at the Mine
After some of the things you've seen today, a good old plain old walkin-around skeleton seems gloriously normal.
RE: Wagon Train Escort Wanted
What could make a man dig himself out of his grave, and go running around without any clothes on, or skin or muscles or anything else at all except bones? Whatever it is, it must be pretty important. It's a real shame he hasn't got any lungs and can't tell you about it, because I bet it's a wild story.
Hit Message(s):

The skeleton loads some of its teeth into its pistol and bites you from range. Ow! Argh! Ow! (spooky damage)
The skeleton punches you in the <skull> with its hard bony knuckles. Ugh! Ouch! Ow! (spooky damage)
The skeleton clacks its teeth at you, and you realize too late that it probably meant "Draw!" (CRITICAL HIT!) Eek! Ooh! Eek!
The skeleton looks around for something to load its gun with.
The skeleton punches you in the <skull> with its light, unmuscular knuckles.
The gunslinger skeleton tries to shoot you, but his gun is a gun skeleton and it doesn't work very well.
The skeleton's trigger finger falls off, and it has to stop and screw it back on. (FUMBLE!)
