Space Cave

You find yourself in a conveniently human-sized cave. Despite the alien surroundings, a cave is pretty much just a rocky hole, so there's nothing of interest in here, unless you're interested in rocks.

Actually, you don't need to be interested in rocks -- the nerds back at the Spacegate facility are interested in rocks enough for the both of... all of you.

Gather some rock samples

You grab some loose rocks and head back to the Spacegate.

You acquire some alien rock samples

With the geological sample kit equipped:

Drill out a core sample

You place your geology kit on the ground and press the button that makes it drill out a core sample.

You acquire some (+2) alien rock samples

Sometimes:

Hey, look at that! A shiny thing!

You acquire an item: alien gemstone (10% chance)*

Just leave

You take your leave of the alien cave.

Occurs at Through the Spacegate.

Notes

• Rock sampling is dependent on the first planet coordinate.
• Drilling out a core sample yields 2 more alien rock samples than gathering some rock samples.
