Storehouse
As you surmised, this low stone building is undoubtedly a warehouse -- or at any rate it used to be, when there were people living here with wares to house. The single large room is carpeted with dust and fragments of ancient pottery, and you see what might once have been a pile of sacks of grain, before the grain was all stolen by animals and the sacks grew so old that they crumble into dust at a glance.
- If you have already found the memory of a grappling hook:
You found a usable rope and grappling hook here before, but I wouldn't set your hopes on finding anything else.

The first time:
Krakrox's keen eye picked out a jumble of metal in a corner of the room. Most of it proved to be useless implements of various types, and what useful ones there were, were so rusty that they broke under their own weight. However, with a little more searching, the barbarian turned up a useful implement indeed -- a grappling hook, wrapped in a scrap of ancient oiled leather that had protected the metal well enough that it still had some life in it.
Nearby, you discover a coil of thick rope that, rather than disintegrating at a touch as you might expect, seems to still be reasonably strong, through the agency of some skill of craftsmanship that is doubtlessly lost today. You tie the grappling hook to one end and sling the coil over your shoulder.

Being a man of action, Krakrox didn't care much for wandering around silent ruins looking for keys and whatnot. He decided he would return to the jungle and seek out a little action, and then return.
Subsequent times:
Krakrox searched every inch of the warehouse carefully, in case any other useful tools had escaped his notice. In the end, however, he was forced to admit that the time spent at this task had been wasted.
Feeling his attention span wane, Krakrox returned to the jungle to find something to beat up on. On which up to beat.
Leave the City |
Poking around in an abandoned ruin was starting to grate on Krakrox's nerves. He was a man of action, ill-suited to scavenger hunts and puzzley nonsense.
You decide to return to the jungle and find something to kill instead.
