This is a huge, loud, dangerous swarm of killer bees. They'll sting you like a hobbit, and even the police won't be able to help you.

You blithely make yourself a cup of coffee while they swarm around you. Then it hits you -- you're COVERED IN BEES! Also, what's coffee? Ouch! Ow! Ouch! Ugh!

They swarm around you like a bunch of gangsta rappers. Only, y'know, with venomous stingers. Argh! Ugh! Ouch! Oof!

Critical Hit Message:

Four bees sting you in the <bung>, the <bung>, the <bung>, and the <bung>. Then four more sting you in the <bung>, and four more sting you in the <bung>. These things are friggin' relentless. Argh! Argh!

Miss Message(s):

They start to swarm you, but get distracted by a guy in a giant bee outfit talking about 'el gato malodoro.'

They start to swarm around you, but you give them a quick lesson on aerodynamics and they all fall to the ground.

Fumble Message:

  • This monster appears statistically equivalent to the swarm of lowercase As.
  • This monster counts as a group (of size 6). It takes manifold damage from area-of-effect skills such as Wave of Sauce.

  • As with everything else in the Dungeons of Doom, this is a reference to the computer game NetHack.
  • "They'll sting you like a hobbit" is a reference to J.R.R. Tolkien's 1937 fantasy novel The Hobbit, which contains a scene in which title character, Bilbo Baggins, sees enormous bees and thinks, "If one was to sting me, I would swell up as big as I am again!" Also, Bilbo carried about a dagger (which, to his size was about the proportions of a short sword) of Elven make named Sting.
  • "The police" is a reference to the British band The Police, whose lead singer was named Sting.
  • The guy in a bee outfit refers to Bumble Bee Man, a recurring character on the television series The Simpsons. On one episode, he calls a skunk "un gato malodoro," or a stinky cat.
  • The aerodynamics lesson is a reference to a flawed aerodynamic calculation from the 1930s purporting to prove that it was impossible for bumblebees to fly. No one told the bumblebees, who went on flying as usual.
  • The "COVERED IN BEES!" line is a reference to a sketch by comedian Eddie Izzard from her Glorious performance.
  • The "bunch of gangsta rappers" is a reference to the Wu-Tang Clan who would would sometimes refer to themselves as "The Wu-Tang Killa Bees" in some of their earlier songs.
  • The description about the police won't be able to help you may be a reference to Tommy Boy where Chris Farley runs out of his car screaming about killer bees, and the cops didn't do anything.
