Talk:668 scroll

From A KoL Wiki

I'm pretty sure the stat and meat gains are variable, based on level. Therefore, the numbers on the front here don't accurately represent the scroll. --Aardvark 23:16, 5 Jul 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

Yeah, testing at level 1 gives +2 to each stats, lose 5 hp, and gain 20 papayas. The numbers on the page are misleading. --Yehman 22:15, 8 Nov 2005 (MST)

Just as a random thought, what would happen if you had no meat on hand to lose on the "Poverty" effect? (Like, if after each time you gained meat from using a scroll you put it into the closet/mailed it/laundered it). --Hailia 00:25, 10 December 2005 (Central Standard Time)

Then you wouldn't lose any meat.--Jubbers 14:18, 3 November 2006 (CST)

Stat-based gain/loss

I just used the scroll and here's what happened:

You gain 153 Strengthliness.
You gain a Muscle point!
You gain 144 Enchantedness.
You gain a Mysticality point!
You gain 158 Chutzpah.
You gain a Moxie point!

My stats before reading the scroll were as follows: Muscle: 108 (82) Mysticality: 69 (59) Moxie: 69 (59)

Is it based on buffed or unbuffed stats? --Gothhenge 17:00, 13 January 2006 (Central Standard Time)

  • I used a few more of these, and each time when I gained or lost meat, it was between 150 and 300 ... And I'm level 10. And the one time I lost stat points, I lost about 150 in my main stat, but less than 9 in my other two stats... --Gothhenge 09:25, 21 January 2006 (Central Standard Time)

Chances

Are all outcomes from the scroll equally likely? Chimprich 08:27, 22 April 2006 (CDT)

Misleading info

You read the arcane runes upon the 668 scroll... "Power!" he shouts. You gain 4 Fortitude. You gain 7 Wizardliness. You gain 2 Smarm. 60/54/83 Disco Bandit. That's nothing like what's on the page.

  • did you read the rest of the page? howsoever, the stats gains/losses appear to be for someone of reasonably high level. if you'd care to do some research and report back your findings i'm sure there'd be a great deal of gratitude all round. --Evilkolbot 13:44, 20 June 2006 (CDT)

One Papaya, Two Papaya-- Fourteen!

I saw no note regarding the range of papaya drops from this item, so I thought it'd be good to test it. I just used one and got 12 papayas-- how about others?--Southwest 23:35, 11 September 2006 (CDT)

i got 14 & 12 papayas. --jeremypv

So I just used close to 800 scrolls and here's the result.

10-15 papaya

3-1189 stats

29-3940 meat

5-276 hp

I started as level 21 and ended as level 20 but I didn't notice any change in the effects. I'm going to put 10-15 as the drop rate for papayas but I think we need more data from other levels to confirm th e rest. As for the probability of the effects. It is clear that you lose stats more often than you gain them since I lost a level. I had pretty resent got to level 21 and I am now at 20 with a long way to go. The same thing seems to go for the meat but I put all meat I got in the closet but I noticed that the lose meat appeared more often than the gain meat. Drunkness and papayas seems to show up at least every seventh time.

Meat Gain/Loss

I recently reported a meat bug regarding the meat gains for high level characters using this scroll. Used it myself to gain 100million meat in 1 day before reporting it. The meat gains from the scroll have now been changed. Here is the response I received. From: Jick Jeez, thank you for reporting this. That is some old, old code. Gains are capped, and will also no longer trigger unless you've got enough Meat on hand that the risk of loss is real. --Moxom s 01:30, 25 April 2012 (CEST)

Combat Message

You hand the scroll to your opponents. They unroll it, read it, and looks slightly confused by it. Then they tear it up and throw the bits into the wind.

Drunkness

Can you continue increasing drunkness even when you are already falling down drunk with this? If so can you get 26 drunkness with this on sneaky pete's day, even for the HCO's?--TehChozenOne 07:00, 15 January 2008 (CST)

  • well, yes to your first question. i believe in HCO it doesn't give drunkenness. even if you could the potential stat loss would be somewhat er, dissuasive. --Evilkolbot 07:02, 15 January 2008 (CST)

Discworld reference

The proposed sequel to Good Omens was slated to be called 668- The Neighbour of the Beast(look on the page, two-thirds down). The item is the 668 scroll, and it summons the Neighbour of the Beast. Does anyone else see a reference, or am I just tilting at windmills? --Irregular 20:17, 4 May 2008 (CDT)

Some Misc. use data

6 used. Base stats: 4014 musc, 2401 myst, 2400 mox. buffed stats identical. 701064 meat on hand. Use 1: 12 papayas Use 2: Gain 6530 muscle substat, 3023 myst substat, 4998 moxie substat Use 3: Lose 10312 muscle substat, 4348 myst substat, 11766 moxie substat Use 4: Lose 10435 Meat Use 5: 10 drunkenness Use 6: 10 drunkenness Ouch. It seems the in-game image has been changed for this and the 31337 scroll. Someone who actually knows what they're doing should update that.--Ham salad sandwich 10:16, 13 March 2012 (CET)
