Talk:A Dance Club

From A KoL Wiki

When have apporpiate equipment:

You step up directly in front of the bouncer and nod a greeting at him. He silently inspects your outfit, and raises one eyebrow. You can practically hear the grinding of gears in his head as he mulls it over, and then he shrugs and politely opens the door for you. The ravers all make huffy and indignant noises, and you turn to give them a smirk and a wave before entering the club.

From the stories you've heard about the ancient Disco Temples, this one does not appear to have been altered very much, thankfully. In fact, though you were afraid that the Spirit of New Wave would have gutted the place, it seems that quite the opposite is true -- the magic that makes the tiles of the dance floor flash colored light has been recharged, the giant mirror ball has been refinished (you can see where many of the mirror tiles have been replaced), and the colored spotlights that hang from the ceiling to illuminate the mirror ball and dance floor have been modernized to permit them to swivel around to the beat of the music. You don't much approve of the exorbitant price of bottled water at the bar, but on the whole you're impressed despite yourself. Reclaiming this place in the name of the Disco Bandits would be quite a coup.

As you push through dancing ravers to the center of the dance floor, the spotlights wink out except for one white one that focuses on you. The thudding bass decreases slightly in volume, and a voice crackles over the PA system -- the voice of the Spirit of New Wave.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have an extra-special visitor this evening!" You look up to the DJ booth on the balcony overhead, and see the shimmering form of the Spirit as he waves at you mockingly. "Welcome home, Disco Bandit. Like what I've done with the place?"

"It's not bad!" you shout up to him. "I'm going to enjoy kicking you out and reclaiming it for its rightful owners!"

"Harsh! Didn't you ever hear of "Finder's Keepers", little Disco Bandit? You poor little leisure suit-wearers have been dead for years, you just haven't noticed yet. You didn't keep up with the times!"

"Let's see if you can keep up with my fist!" you shout, heading for the balcony stairs. The Spirit shakes his head and punches a button on his console. Ravers scatter as a siren blares and a door slides open, revealing several menacing-looking humanoid robots, shining with chrome and neon lights. They emit electronic growling noises as they block your path to the DJ booth. --Peter50216 10:40, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Entry

What combinations of rave gear work for entry? Theres at least 6 pieces of rave gear and the accessories can be equipped more than once.

EDIT: I'm sure you could equip more than one of the same rave accessory but you can't now. Discordance 11:30, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

I was only able to get in when I had 5 pieces of rave gear equipped. --Glazius 07 17:52, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

I believe the rave visor and baggy rave pants are necessary. I have gotten in with only four pieces of equipment, before I ever got candy necklace or glowstick on a string. My gut guess is that you need pants and visor and at least one extra piece of equipment. --Kilyle 08:23, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

I made it in with the rave visor and baggy rave pants, plus the candy necklace and pacifier necklace. It also appears that you only need the rave gear equipped to open up the area. I was able to adventure in the club without the items on afterwards. --Aranach 00:46, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

If four is the minimum, then a rave whistle counts as rave gear (from the rave giant in the Castle in the Clouds in the Sky). I made it in with the rave whistle, teddy bear backpack, rave visor and baggy rave pants.--Hastifer 19:23, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

The rave visor is definitely not needed. I got in with baggy rave pants, candy necklace, pacifier necklace, teddybear backpack and rave whistle. Are we looking at a clownosity type arrangement where the different gear has different 'rave-ositiy', perhaps? --Lilli 11:41, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes i thinks that is it, because i only wore lik or of the items and ig to through User:Icon315/sig

Glowstick necklace, baggy pants, candy necklace and visor was not enough, added the rave whistle and it worked. --Lilli 22:15, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Thought I'd add a little spading I did, on which combinations work and which don't. If there is a "ravosity" value for each item as with clownosity, it might help uncover it. I did these tests while naked apart from the gear listed.

The only thing that data proves for certain is that the rave visor is worth more than the candy necklace, rave whistle and teddybear backpack. Also the pacifier necklace is worth more than the rave whistle, teddybear backpack or candy necklace. If anyone wants to add more, or knows how to present this in a tidier format, please do so. --Twistedmage 20:33, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Looking at the drops baggy rave pants, pacifier necklace and rave visor drop from only one raver, but candy necklace, teddybear backpack and glowstick on a string all drop from 2 ravers.

My guess is a minimum requirement of 7 raveosity to enter, where:

It fits the data above, but it's not the only possibility.--Twistedmage 14:14, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

I wrote a quick script to test all* possible combinations of 3 out of the 7 items, all fail. (*with the exception of combos involving dual wielded rave whistles) --Lilli 15:30, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

If Twistedmage's theory above is true, you would expect all combinations of 4 items to fail, with the exception of the four combinations that have all three of rave visor, baggy rave pants and pacifier necklace. I just checked them, and they do indeed all fail. You would also expect there to be three 5 item combinations that fail, and again they all do. I can also add that rave visor + baggy rave pants + pacifier necklace + rave whistle is a success, as you would expect. (Again, this multi can't dual wield, so I didn't check for that). --Lilli 11:52, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

These figures can't be right. With rave visor + pacifier necklace + rave whistle + teddybear backpack + candy necklace I was not allowed in. Adding baggy rave pants to this allowed me in. Yvain 03:47, 17 April 2010 (UTC) I just redid those items and it worked so I must have misread what equipment I had the first time. Yvain 11:52, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
