This adventure is the same whether wearing the V for Vivala Mask or not. --Seahawk730 20:07, 17 March 2008 (CDT)

It seems like this adventure is not one-time (or one-per day/ascension). I got three tattered hats today (in about 25 adv). BUT it does seem like you can't get a new tattered hat until you've swapped your old one for a cake (about 50 adv after getting and putting the third in my display case). No need to eat the cake. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 16:05, 23 May 2008 (CDT)

I just received a second paper crown while already having one in my inventory (not equipped) from the last SPD.--JungleSlug 17:44, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Eh? The above comment and the most recent edit to the article imply there is some way for the game to distinguish between crowns gathered on different days. I thought that all items of the same IDs were indistinguishable. --BagatelleT/C 23:23, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

  • Nope, it can distinguish them. On my main and a multi I have a crown from all previous king cake SSPDs in my DC, and have never experienced an issue (beyond RNG hate) with getting a new crown on a subsequent run. I believe the ketchup hound has a similar detection mechanism when you try to use it to build a pagoda; you can only build a pagoda with a hound from the current ascension (purchasing one from the mall works, I believe, though I don't know if it works if you buy one from your own store that came from a previous run). --Flargen 23:30, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
    • From personal experience, the stuff suggested about the ketchup hound probably isn't true. Here's a conjecture: SSPD keeps a counter for everyone that is only turned on for SSPD and initialized at 0. Getting a crown increments that counter, getting a cake decrements that counter, and the special adventures only show up for the appropriate value of the counter.(EDIT: Crap, that doesn't account for being able to equip an old one and get cake. Can you do that?)--Al Khowarizmi 00:13, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
      • I haven't tested the ketchup hound thing, but it could be something simple like a flag for "has gotten a ketchup hound this run" being set or not, with a mall purchase setting the flag but using one from a previous ascension doesn't. --Flargen 01:29, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
