Talk:A Looking Glass

From A KoL Wiki

Using the looking glass resulting in the following message:

You check yourself out in the looking glass. You're looking pretty snazzy, and your reflection seems to be holding a tiny bottle of blue liquid. Hmm. "DRINK ME" potion You acquire an item: "DRINK ME" potion

Its description was

"This little glass bottle of blue liquid has a card attached that reads "DRINK ME." You won't let The Man tell you what to do, but you're pretty sure that little glass bottles of blue liquid are not The Man. Now... Dog."

Drinking the potion gave the following message:

"You quaff the potion and suddenly shrink to one tenth of your original size. Before you can complain, you're nearly bowled over by a stampeding rabbit. You follow him to the Nearby Plains and see him disappear down a hole. Down the Rabbit Hole You acquire an effect: Down the Rabbit Hole (duration: 20 Adventures)"

Another person already put up the entry for the Down the Rabbit Hole effect. Moynusaxon 05:12, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

"...The Man. Now... Dog" is either a reference to the site YTMND (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YTMND) or Sean Connery's line in Finding Forrester, "You're the man now, dog!" Wyscor 05:36, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Just to note, this is yet another item that can be re-used after ascending. --Sparksol (t|c) 10:36, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

message does not change if you are naked --Goom 16:02, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

I had yesterday's bottle still in my inventory when I tried to use the mirror. It gave me the snazzy message, as though I had already gained my bottle for the day. Subsequent attempts to put it in my inventory and collection didn't change that. A different character was able to put the bottle in the store and then use the mirror successfully. So, if you want extras, be sure you put the bottle away before using the mirror. Moynusaxon 06:52, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

  • Are you sure you didn't try for another potion on the same day? I've been getting a new potion every day, with all the others still in inventory. --Friederike 12:04, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
    • I'm pretty sure, as it was the first time I had logged in since rollover, and the first thing I tried doing that day. Maybe they were still working a bug out? Moynusaxon 04:50, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

References: I'm quite sure that the mirror has nothing whatsoever to do with the Mirror of Erised in Harry Potter. The Philosopher's Stone was a red-orange rock, not a blue bottle (and the Elixir of Life, which I think is seen only on the HP trading cards, is in a red/purple bottle, and not labelled "DRINK ME" :)). The mirror and the bottle are pure Alice - though I note, having just re-read the books, that none of the Alice bottles are actually blue. --Kay Dekker 14:37, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

  • I think the "reference" here is that Harry got the Stone out of his mirror in pretty much the exact same way that this mirror gives out Drink Me potions. A bit of a stretch, but hardly "nothing whatsoever". --Billybobfred 03:47, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
