Talk:A River Runs Through It (Slippery When Wet)

From A KoL Wiki

I'm assuming this will yield a Slippery When Wet Shield, connecting the diamond shape with the Bon Jovi album. Instead of naming the pages after the signs they give, would it be better to name them after which Sneaky Pete's Day they're from? Is it worth the effort to rename the other pages? --Johnny Treehugger 16:10, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

  • Well adventure disambig's in the past have been usually named by some difference in the actual adventure's text when possible (though sometimes things have to be sorted by class or location, etc.), the first one had no clues but the adventure's pic was a yield sign when it was disambig'd when the next holiday's adventure had a speed limit sign. The next occurrence had a road pic, but specifically shouted "DETOUR" in the adventure text. This one was tricky, as it has the same road pic and no obvious sign was mentioned or pictured. Since it wasn't yet created, I named at as best as I could based on the content of the adventure, I considered "Woah, you're halfway there" to disambig because it was mentioned multiple times, though it seems kinda long, but since the adventure specifically stated "livin' on a prayer" and because "livin' on a prayer" prety much includes "Woah, you're halfway there" and some other lines form the song, I went with that. I think it'd be awkward to name it after the fact after a sign shield which may not appear in this adventure at all? I guess we could rename then after the SSP Day they appeared, but there are a few concerns with that. If the adventure even appeared again, either on purpose on accidentally repeated on the next holiday (which has happened before), it would have to be renamed. As they stand now, if they show up again, you just change a line within them, but don't have to rename then. And disambig'ing then based on holiday also is not intuitive, for example if you saw "A River Runs Through It (St. Sneaky Pete's Day XXIII), A River Runs Through It (St. Sneaky Pete's Day XXIV), A River Runs Through It (St. Sneaky Pete's Day XXV), and A River Runs Through It (St. Sneaky Pete's Day XXVI)", it's not really giving a clue which adventure is which, as saying Yield, Speed Limit, etc. does. I even went though "Livin' on a Prayer" lyrics for hints, but still it could be a crosswalk, or some other crossing, "Slippery When Wet" seems promising after you guys mentioned it (album name never occurred to me), but the person slipping version or car skidding or text, who knows? Still, I wouldn't want the adventure named after something not within the adventure. I'm not saying how I named it is perfect or most correct or anything, I'm just saying why I named it what I did. And now you know. And knowing is half the battle. --JRSiebz (|§|) 02:59, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Well, if "something in the adventure text" is the common tie, that's fine too. Just as long as everyone's on the same page. --Shadowlynk 04:39, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

realy? i think it will be a pedestrian CROSSING sign cus of the constant refrences to crossing and the black silhouette man --Ganomex 17:12, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

I have to agree with Johnny, I'm betting on Slippery When Wet. The song gets the bulk of the references here, and Slippery When Wet is the album the song is on. Not that any of this speculating matters, since it's only 6 hours until we know for sure. :) As to the name of the page, either plan should be fine as long as they're all standardized to the same naming scheme. This page will have to be moved, at least. --Shadowlynk 22:16, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
Well, it's slippery when wet- here is the image. I can't click on the item in my inventory though, so I'm not going to create the page yet. Nadando 04:15, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

'may wake up'

The text says 'may wake up the next day with a slippery when wet shield in their possession.' Is this accurate? Did anyone not get the item when they had the effect? Nadando 18:39, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

  • No it was just a templated wording that wasn't fixed once we had confirmation of the new item.--Toffile 20:05, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
