Talk:A Swarm of Yeti-Mounted Skeletons

From A KoL Wiki

Does using a A. W. O. L. commendation before it does anything consume it?

Skeletons destroyed depend on the weapon used; a magilaser blastercannon @ 125 moxie kills 23, losing 5 HP and 4 MP. A ga-ga radio with everything else the same kills 18, losing the same amount. --KrennVonSalzburg 06:22, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Skeletons destroyed depend on weapon damage and absolute bonus damage (at least in the case of diving into the fray. I'm guess the Mys one is spell damage.). Damage you take depends on your stats. --InvalidUser 06:25, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

I just got 21 kills with the blastercannon and 16 with the radio, so there is something more to it. I also lost 39 hp (3% of my max 1288hp) and 50 mp (4% of my max 1239 mp). Buffed a bit and lost 43hp/55mp (3% and 4% of my new max 1417hp/1361mp). That was for ranged weapons. It seems to be 5% mp for staffs and 5% hp for melee. I'm adding it to the page--Christog 06:33, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Only 1 direction of attack seems to work at any time. Direction of attack seems related to class + stats (I was able to change the direction by maximizing my moxie as a mysticality class). Kills are somewhat related to weapon. As level 20 Sauceror, I get 13 with Winsor (and most others), 14 with bindlestocking and slime-covered club, 15 with hookspear and 17 with slime-covered shovel. Damage seems strongly related to HP. I have cut damage in 1/2 by switching from sea salt scrubs to shark jumper. --QVamp 06:35, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Hobo power seems to help. Harmonica (for ranged damage) and Hodgman's sock and bandolier with a rusty spear, attacking moxie style (underneath), gave me 41 kills. --Rahmuss 06:42, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Trying to adventure drunk gives the message: "There are at least two of everything up there, and you're also worried that you might fall off your yeti. You should maybe come back when you're at least slightly less drunk." --KingOfWrong 06:49, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Trying to adventure without enough mp (below 20% of max mp): "You don't have the energy to attack a problem this size. Go drink some soda or something."
There's also a message for not enough hp (below 20% of max hp): "You're not in good enough shape to deal with a threat this large. Go get some rest, or put on some band-aids or something."
Without adv: "You want to help fight Corman's invading army, but you don't have time." --Christog 07:09, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Just wanted to add a note that buffing my muscle (from 231 up to 1142) did not increase the amount of skeletons I killed per attack. It did cause me to take more damage per attack though. Changing to a weapon with lower power lowered the amount of skeletons killed (19 skeletons with a 200 power weapon, 12 with a 125 power weapon) so it seems to be based on your weapon, not your buffed muscle. Not sure if base muscle matters. --Deadsystem 07:18, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

I don't think stats or bonus damage seem to matter; I tried unequipping everything except for my main weapon and the number of skeletons killed was the same. --Itsatrap 07:24, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Also, on a moxie character (DB), ranged weapons seem to kill more skeletons per unit weapon power than melee or staves do. And of course, staves seem to work just fine as melee weapons. --Itsatrap 07:34, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
I wonder if the damage modifiers are class/type specific, so that bonus weapon damage benefits Mus characters, while Mys characters rely on bonus spell damage? My Mox character certainly doesn't seem to be benefiting from any modifiers except bonus ranged damage. --Itsatrap 08:37, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Wait no, it looks like there are simply different multipliers for the different damage types. Also, there seems to be a small amount of randomness in the formula, +/- 2 skeletons or so. (I'm currently killing 37-40 with my loadout.) --Itsatrap 22:03, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Tried to equip my disembodied hand with a ranged weapon, but did not get any extra kills from that.--Sjabth 07:56, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

I equipped my hand with a weapon that had +ranged damage and it gave me an extra kill --Anmbia 08:21, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Damage % does not seem to work; but damage increasers do (ie +X to [ranged or weapon or spell] damage]. --Rahmuss 07:50, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

An A. W. O. L. Messenger instantly flies up to you and says "Good work, Adventurer. Admiral Hagnk wanted you to have this." You acquire an item: A. W. O. L. commendation after approxamatly 400 kills, didn't keep track really but guessed based on number of adventures I think I started with. --Radioactivecheese 08:04, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

The attack messages seem to change based on the number of skeletons killed. --Itsatrap 08:21, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

So, with +130 spell damage and +155 %, was killing 14 skels. With +170 and +5%, 29. With +222 spell damage, was killing 33 skels...--Modran 08:24, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

The messages are different depending on your abilities, I suppose. With +100 ranged, 7 inch discus and +51 weapon, I got "You fly under the swarm, firing your 7-inch discus over and over, Groshua banking and swooping as you dodge the various organic byproducts earth-bound yetis usually bury under a bush. Every time you almost get hit with guano, you shoot a little faster." You defeated 34 skeletons

With +100 ranged, +51 weapon and rainbow crossbow, I got "As you fly under the swarm, a steaming yeti byproduct lands on Groshua right in front of you. Incensed, you fire wildly with your rainbow crossbow, making it rain skeletons for a little while." You defeated 29 skeletons

With +100 ranged, +51 weapon, and Knob bugle, I got: "You dodge various yeti byproducts as you fly under the swarm, Groshua doing barrel rolls as you squeeze off shots with your knob bugle and unhorsing -- er, unyeti-ing? -- a decent few skeletal riders." You defeated 19 skeletons--Modran 08:55, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

With +180 ranged, 200 power weapon, I got: "You keep the face of your father fixed in your mind as you fire over and over with your rusty speargun, cutting a wide swath through the swarm. Man, did you ever hate that guy." --Val

I got with 200 power weapon(Melee) and +164 Weapon damage, 26 kills, I think it's either (6% of Weapon damage + 8% of Weapon power) or (7% of weapon damage+Weapon Power Rounded up.) --Zionico 12:07, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Getting 52 kills with +275 ranged damage and a 200 power weapon Lord kobel

Got 35 kills with a +200 utensil (teflon spatula) and +273 and 10% general spell damage. --Lumeria 22:58, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

unformatted datapoints

notes

  • weapon, wpn: weapon damage bonus according to mafia
  • rng: ranged
  • spell: spell

except for the two data points marked "grah" (done on the Pastamancer grah, but I gave up seeing as it was giving me weird results), all of these are done on a sauceror, with the +10 spell damage from Intrinsic Spiciness, since Mafia counted that. however, I'm not sure that it DOES count.

if not specified, weapon power is 200.

going to sreep, 'night. --Raijinili 09:12, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

HP loss for melee is definitely not 5% of max HP. I'm losing 62 HP each time when my max HP is 611. I'm using a 200-power melee and killing 17 each time. icefall5 13:47, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

There seems to be a cap of 500 to the HP you lose, with a lvl112 TT with 23k HP I was losing 500 HP each time.--FatQuack 14:53, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

more going on

  • as an at, i'm only getting 25 skeleton killed with 200 power weapon and +125 weapon damage. hmmm. does the hand's weapon count? if so, that's +20. --Evilkolbot 22:18, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
  • The hand's damage modifiers seem to count, but not the hand's weapon power. Specifically, equipping an old school Mafia knicke½æ seems to boost my ranged kill rate. However, equipping a better ranged weapon on the disembodied hand than in my mainhand doesn't help. --Itsatrap 22:35, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Weapons usable for "Fly above to get a better look"

The page currently says you need a mysticality weapon, but I've noticed all staves work as well, even when they have a muscle requirement. So either the rule for use in this fight is more complicate, or the definition of a mysticality weapon needs to be updated.--ManaUser 00:19, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Honestly, I always thought the Myst weapons were all of the utensils and staves, chef or non. So it seems to be right in that regards.--Arashmin 02:48, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Extra commendations?

My first attack in the swarm today gave me three extra commendations (doubling the number I had before). Did anyone else see something like this? Do they compound or something? Was the rate they are awarded doubled retroactively? Speight 09:15, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

If you look in inventory, you'll have only 3. There was a bug that gave people extras, so they nuked them all and will re-award the proper number on your next combat.--Stannius 19:05, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
