From A KoL Wiki

I just realised, this is the first time ever that color has been used in an image in KOL!--Tombot 19:35, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

  • Actually they used the color black before...and grey/gray.--Icon315♕ (|) 19:43, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
    • I was refering to the foil cards at the top of the page, unless my moniter is showing them oddly--Tombot 20:11, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
      • Yeah I know, I was kidding.--Icon315♕ (|) 20:14, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
        • How would I know that? asides, is it worth mentioning somewhere? I don't know how big of a deal this is supposed to be.--Tombot 20:20, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
          • Nah, I don't think so. If we do that, we should put "first/only yadda yadda yadda" in a lot of places.--Icon315♕ (|) 20:29, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

Possible Configurations

  • I've been thinking of how to avoid the duplicate card issue that shows up in the template-based example (needs select-without-replacement, but that is possible with the right nesting of templates). But I want to be sure I fully understand the other constraints before investing much effort:
    1. The (foil) coward always moves to the back, so can only show up in rank 5.
    2. The (foil) horseman moves up 1 rank, so can only show up in ranks 1-4.
    3. Can you play both a foil X and a non-foil X at the same time? That gives a full 40 cards to play with if so.
      1. This is a No.--Icon315♕ (|) 23:27, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
    4. If the above is true, what happens if you play a foil coward and a coward---can you then fill both ranks 4 and 5 with cowards, one foil one not?

The cards won't be regenerated until the wikicache is purged. Why we do this?
1d20 * 2 + 1d2 - 1 to account for no foil/nonfoil duplicates. --Raijinili 01:01, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
To show that we can! Also so that the casual user doesn't come by, see the page have one side with 2 halberders, assume he can play two, and then be really confused when he can't. A simple workaround is to simply make it so that each rank gets its own unique set of "reasonable" cards that can appear. Won't give every possible arrangement, but would avoid the impossible ones and most of the blatantly stupid ones. You could still see one guy play 1 HP guys when the opponent has an early/lead bomber, or even when he's played a bomber, but it would be seriously difficult to make it pick cards strategically, so I think that's an acceptable situation. --Flargen 03:30, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
Grab last two replay's winners :P. --Raijinili 07:22, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

Foils

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the the only game significant difference between a foil and a non-foil is the autosell price, right? Non-foil commons are 5 meat, foil commons are 1000, non-foil uncommons are 10 meat, foil uncommons are 5000, and non-foil rares are 0, while foil rares are 20k. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 23:16, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

  • Outside of AA? Yes. You also don't get a snack voucher when you pick up a foil pack. Or so I assume. In terms of AA itself, since you can play foils in normal ante games but can't ante them up (or have I just been really unlucky?), it allows you to store away all of your non-foil rares so you can use the foil versions without risking losing them. Also your uncommons. Basically any card that you do not want to play without. --Flargen 23:27, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Bug: Coward and Horseman

There is a bug involved with the rank change mechanics of the Coward and Horseman cards. The opponent can view the changed ranks prematurely by refreshing their browser. Here's an example:

Round 1. Player A selects Halberd. Player B selects Ninja. Once both selections are complete these rank1 cards are revealed to both players and Round 2 begins. (nothing strange yet)

Round 2. Player A selects Horseman. Player B selects nothing, instead refreshing the browser. Once Player A has chosen the Horseman Player B's screen will change. No longer will Player A's Halberd be sitting in rank 1. Instead, the Halberd will have changed into a Horseman (and the Halberd will have disappeared). Player B now has information of Player A's rank 2 choice in advance. (end of example)

An example using the Coward is similar. For each subsequent round after playing Coward the opponent can view your selections in advance (once they've been made).

This bug has been reported in-game, with the following response: "This is a known issue -- it's on our list of things to fix. We hope. Someday. Thanks for the report!"

On a strategic note, it is probably best to wait until the 60 second timer is all but gone before choosing Horseman, or for every one of your plays if you're playing Coward. --Suinoq (talk) 18:17, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
