Talk:Areas by Number
I think we should make a list of adventures in the game not processed by the adventure.php script, and thus have no number, for example, the Daily Dungeon is dungeon.php. This is actually relevant to gameplay.--Chish 15:06, 22 October 2006 (CDT)
Not a bad idea. I'd also love to see a list of choices by number. (Choice numbers get used in the HTML code to process them. Denim Axes Examined is choice number 2, which strikes me as odd since it was the first such choice in the game. Is there a number 1? What is it?) Do you want to start such a list? I started this page since I need to know it for my KoL scripts. Other bot writers need to keep such lists as well, and my effort certainly wasn't the first. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 16:54, 29 November 2006 (CST)
snarfblat dying?
Both the Dungeon Full of Dungeons and the Bat Hole use an HTTP POST activated by a javascript submit() to accomplish their work. The area number is a hidden variable in the form, with the name "adv". Has this always been this way? If not, are there other areas that have been converted to work like this? --Jonrock 19:51, 13 July 2007 (CDT)
That is the old way. More and more are becoming just GET links. All of them are GET links from the side pane to repeat last adventure, and that's where I usually go for the adventure numbers. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 16:47, 16 July 2007 (CDT)
Moronically?
We should probably remove the emotion-charged word "moronically," unless there is more history between Norton and kol. Fredsmith2 22:47, 21 October 2007 (CDT)
- Done. I got rid of the strikeout text, too. That's what edit histories are for. -- Old Ned 22:46, 2 February 2008 (CST)

Last adventure names
Do we actually store the last adventure names anywhere? Last I checked we didn't even have redirects because of the ancient and in my opinion outdated policy of using names from the images. I think if nowhere else we should use the last adventure names here as they are the names associated with snarfblat and really they ought to go somewhere. Discordance (talk) 00:19, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- Then again maybe they ought to just go in the zone info as an alternate name. Discordance (talk) 00:22, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- All pages should be the name used in the code (e.g. by Florist Friar). I don't think there was any formal discussion but me and oneforfortytwo decided that in-game a few months ago. — Cool12309 (talk) 00:49, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- Many of the old locations still use image name, because originally the only name we had for a location was the image not anything else, Last Adventure names didn't exist then. Like how some old quests don't use the quest log name, but a generic made-up name, as there wasn't a quest log to look at back then. Image location names now a days seem to be either shortened, abbreviated, or start with something like "go to" or "explore the" which are just superfluous. --JRSiebz (☎|§|‡) 04:54, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
Just putting this here for posterity: The official name for Area 119 is now "The Palindome (OLD)", as can be seen after fighting Dr. Awkward. --GoldS (talk) 02:15, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
