Talk:Baron von Ratsworth

From A KoL Wiki

Strategies: I think it is about time, we start on strategies: i just did this simple test:
-with 22 moxie he did 13 damage.
-with 32 moxie he did 15 damage.
So, as was expected, he does more damage the higher your moxie is.
With 46 muscle, i was unable to hit him.
The best way to go is to use Cola Granades; two did the trick

I just wondered, the best thing to do, is beeing beaten up, when fighting against him... - Residium - 12.11.2005

-- personally I liked the familiar + elixir method. It's much more hardcore-friendly... --Exd3ath 11:50, 29 November 2005 (Central Standard Time) While beaten up, I was able to defeat the Baron with one shot of Chronic Indigestion at 15 fullness, which did 22 damage plus the familiar damage of 6. This is a viable strategy for lower levels, since the Baron's HP is lower via scaling. --Yehman 20:37, 12 December 2005 (Central Standard Time)

-with 36 moxie he did 11 damage.

-with 48 moxie he did 15 damage.--ThunderTurtle 11:05, 4 July 2006 (CDT)

-with 18 moxie and 5 muscle, I got the jump on him and killed him in one moxious maneuver (so he was at 10 hp or less) Pthalo 11:37, 4 July 2006 (CDT)

- With 18 moxie and 19 muscle, he did 8-9 damage and had between 26 and 34 hp. Pthalo 14:00, 13 July 2006 (CDT)

- moxie classes have all the luck. 43 muscle, 19 moxie, he did 8-9 damage and had between 82 and 94 hp. Pthalo 15:13, 13 July 2006 (CDT)

Once I figured out which square he was in I ate one of each wad (except twinkly) and did (+10)(+10)(+10)(+10)(+10) damage along with my regular attack. Dead on second round. --jupider 17:49, 6 September 2006 (CDT)

1929 crash reference

I removed the reference for the fact it's probably not a reference at all. Let's look at the mind control device's numbers

0 - No effect
1 - Wasn't in use pre-ratsworth
2 - Wasn't in use pre-ratsworth
3 - Knob Goblin King
4 - Boos Bat
5 - Bonerdagon
6 - Wasn't in use pre-ratsworth
7 - Knob Goblin King
8 - Boss bat
9 - Wasn't in use pre-ratsworth
10 - Bonerdagon
11 - Boss Boss Trophy

There were only four numbers (1, 2, 6 and 9) to pick from when they created the boss. It's probably pure co-incidence with the 2/9 pick --TDG 18:15, 31 December 2005 (Central Standard Time)

  • This boss could have been planned when the mind control device was, you assume Ratsworth was a spur of the moment thing.--Hamelin 20:11, 5 June 2006 (CDT)

Hard to find

What's up with Baron making you go through nearly the entire cellar every time to find him? -Holler 11:52, 13 December 2006 (CST)

  • It's called "RNG screwage" and it happens to everybody from time to time. --Quietust (t|c) 12:07, 13 December 2006 (CST)
    • There are two special squares in the cellar. The first one that you find will be the faucet, and the second one will be Ratsworth. Since you have to find both squares, it's extremely likely that you'll end up checking at least half of the cellar before finding both... Speaking of Ratsworth, did anyone note that Jick & co. mentioned in a recent radio show that Ratsworth is supposed to get stronger the more you've ascended. Anyone done enough testing on that rat to figure out if that's actually correct - or if they just remembered it incorrectly?--Andemon 12:28, 13 December 2006 (CST)
      • Aren't there 3 special squares? Facet, Ratsworth, as well as an Item square that drops some booze? In any event, is the square that the contains the Baron really random is it near the facet? I haven't had time to properly test this so I'm just really curious about this one. --Esko 05:42, 4 January 2007 (CST)
    • I understand the RNG acts funny... Here again Baron hides out in the last square on me (last ascension he was somewhere about half, the one before that he was in the very last square). So to Andemon's point, maybe the more you ascend the more he avoids being found. I'm on my 26th (25 HC). Nobody else feels like he is moving around to be the last tile you click on? -Holler 04:28, 31 December 2006 (CST)
    • Again, my next ascension he hid out until the very lats tile, once again. This is more than just RNG. -Holler 04:55, 4 January 2007 (CST)
    • Stupid Baron mofo. Somebody else look into this. He loves to hide until the last square for me... Maybe it's something to do with being perm HC? -Holler 02:32, 20 February 2007 (CST)

Possible Album Reference?

Modest Mouse has an album called 'Baron Von Bullsh*t Rides Again'. Modest, Mouse, Baron Von, this seems flawless.--Mynamec0rnbread 20:01, 14 April 2007 (CDT)

Optional Quest

I missed him the first time I went through the tavern. Is there a list anywhere of things that once you miss, you can't go back and do them? Also, does he every become unbeatable due to too many ascensions?

New Strategy Needed

Due to the changes of NS-13, there needs to be new strategies developed. Simply maxing out muscle and thrust-smacking him into oblivion isn't working for me due to the change(s) to thrust-smack. Be warned. Shoptroll 19:25, 28 June 2007 (CDT)

Spelled wrongly

It should be noted that Baron Von Ratsworth is actually a spelling mistake. It should be Baron von Ratsworth instead, with a lowercase v. The reason for this being that "von" is a German preposition, and prepositions are always spelled in lowercase, unless they are the first word in a sentence. --Mr Crac 08:50, 21 November 2007 (CST)

Monster Level Numbers?

With the opening of Heartbreak Hotel, and my current lack of being in BM HC, has anyone confirmed that the numbers from Mind Control, Annoy-a-Tron, etc are the same for the hotel?

Does he still scale?

Shortly before the revamp rolled out, there was a bit of discussion about him on the radio and it sounded like they might've made him no longer scale. --Missingno 22:53, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

  • I got over 500 substats from him, so yeah, he scales. He scales differently is what they meant, I think. --Flargen 22:57, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
