Talk:Beast with X Eyes

From A KoL Wiki

What is n?

n appears to be wrong. At level 72, I faced an 800-eyed beast. That would be (lvl ^ 1.4 + 2) * 2. The formula on the page does not include the doubling. Yes, no, some confirmation? --Burgie12 10:30, 7 August 2007 (CDT)

That's because the actual formula appears to be (Int(lvl ^ 1.4) + 2) * 2. The decimal portion of lvl^1.4 gets discarded, leaving a whole number. --Vert 21:13, 31 December 2007 (CST)

Combat initiative

The Beast with n Eyes does not always get combat initiative. As a level 30 disco bandit with buffed moxie of 2112, I got the jump in the first round, and I think all but 1 subsequent rounds. --Katitonic 16:53, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

As a level 19 AT but with 3047 Buffed moxie and +370% initiative, he got the jump 4/4 times, and he only had 26 eyes. See screenshot here: [1] I've never, ever, ever gotten the jump on the n eyed beast in my 7+ basement dives. If someone has, please provide a screenshot. --EEpiccolo 18:57, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

  • Buffed stats mean nothing for initiative. Unless the information on the initiative page is erroneous, it only uses your base main stat. So you have a stat value of 361, according to that image. Not saying that it's possible to get the jump [I can't recall ever getting the jump personally, in my own basement runs], just correcting about initiative misinformation here. --Val 20:46, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
  • Thanks Val, I overlooked that. I'll be goofing around in aftercore for awhile, so I'll try again before I ascend.--EEpiccolo 02:56, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

I doubt the init is infinite, its probably in range of several thousand to several hundred thousand. Discordance 03:48, 18 January 2013 (CET)

Michael Jackson

This might sound crazy, but in the lyrics to thriller, it says "There ain't no second chance against the thing with forty eyes", could this monster be a reference? --Starguy 17:45, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

  • Yes, because Michael Jackson invented movie tropes. And then TV Tropes.--Toffile 20:11, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Not a reference. Also, accidental ninja-edit-deletion.--P4n1q 04:40, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Futurama Reference

Futurama, Season 5 episodes 5-8 is collectively a full-length movie called "The Beast with a Billion Backs".

Also, with a 7-foot Dwarven Mattock equipped, gives the following hit: "You axe it a question. Specifically, "What does it feel like to have just been hit for 102 damage?" WHAMMO! BOINK! KERBLAM! SMACK! WHAMMO! WHACK! BONK! WHAM! SPLAT! WHACK!" This use of 'axe' instead of the archaic 'ask' is a repeated joke in the Futurama universe.

--SanAequitas 10:10, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

Not everything is a Futurama reference. Specifically, neither of those things are. That movie came out in 2008, so, it actually postdates this monster. And pronouncing "ask" as "axe" is something that many people in contemporary society do, which is why Futurama even makes the joke to begin with. Not a reference.--P4n1q 19:38, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
