Talk:Bigg's Dig

From A KoL Wiki

If they "beat you to it", does it still consume the adventure?

Necklaces

Does anyone know what the numbers are for the fossil necklace bonuses? EDIT: The bat teeth give +2 to all attributes per tooth. No cap found yet.--NimbleJack3

Fossils

It did not for me... -Lichking21st

I got a new piece today (Sept 2) -- a fossilized spike:

It's a good thing this massive razor-sharp spine is lodged in a sheath of stone, because if it wasn't, it'd be really dangerous!

Portending a new creature?

  • Here is more info about the spike. I don't know how to add pictures to the wiki so I leave that to someone else. "You unearth an ominous-looking fossilized spike...", foss_spike.gif, desc_item.php?whichitem=558351756 --Christog 14:16, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Images

  • I'm calling it a night and the following images need to be uploaded. I'm just putting the links here just in case the dig sites become inaccessible after they are 100% dug. --JRSiebz (|§|) 09:40, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
  • Uploaded the images, chucked tables here for probable future use. --JRSiebz (|§|) 02:04, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

  • I don't see a way to put the numbers on top of the images without going into Mediawiki:Common.css. KoL does it using the url(..) style property in the table cell to set a background image, but that's not allowed here. If some admin wants to add a rule, say like:
.biggcell {
  background-image: url("http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/images/4/42/Db.gif");
}

it should work. --Fig bucket 13:29, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

  • I added .digsection as .biggcell sounded like a really large table cell ;) --JRSiebz (|§|) 06:34, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Missing item

Ok, I'm new in writing in this wiki but I happened to get this item http://www7.kingdomofloathing.com/desc_item.php?whichitem=819446225 at an unmarked spot. No idea what is does but it sells for a lot of meat in the mall. (Do not wan't to try and use it yet) --Jubbo 11:24, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

Gives you a skill, I understand, but doesn't get consumed, and it's tradeable.

The items I made were :

5 smoked potsherds : Pottery Yo-Yo, Ranged weapon, 50 power, +5 Hot Damage - Can be zapped into a Pottery Barn Owl Figurine (familiar). 7 smoked potsherds : Pottery Hat, Hat, 45 power, Slight Cold Resistance, +5 Hot Damage 8 smoked potsherds : Pottery Club, 1 Handed Club, 50 Power, +5 Hot Damage 9 smoked potsherds : Pottery Shield, Off-hand item (shield), Damage Reduction: 3, +5 Hot Damage 11 smoked potsherds : Pottern Training Pants, Pants, 50 Power, All Attributes +3, +5 Hot Damage

None have level/stat restrictions. Hat, Shield and Pants make up the Smoked Pottery Outfit, which unlocks a tattoo.

100%

Is it just a problem with my browser or are all dig-sites already fully explored? :( --Christog 11:50, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

Any ideas as to where the red-hot medallion accessory came from? - AvangionQ / September 2nd, 2010.

Using the red-hot medallion produces a tattoo. -- Gizmonster 11:12, 2 September 2010

Message you get when finding it: You unearth a red-hot medallion. How lucky! Or... unlucky? Medallion gives tattoo, not consumed on use Fitsfadda 16:38, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

The third stage of the dig appears to have just been completed... but R. Bigg is still handing out shovels?! What's the significance of this? Wrldwzrd89 17:12, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

  • I would assume Asymmetric is having a martini lunch and hasn't changed Bigg yet.--Toffile 17:34, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
  • Maybe this is the final layer and HotStuff decided to give some love to the Diamonds who want to keep a last shovel for their dc but didn't forsee this early end... --Yatsufusa 17:39, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
    • It looks like you may be right Yatsufusa... given that the dig is gone now, and the tent is empty. Wrldwzrd89 17:41, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Stuff Getment

It seems that lumps produce skulls and bodyparts and flat level ground makes ash and potsherds along with the occasional skull. Prove me wrong if you can, I ran out of adventures for today.--Tombot 13:36, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

  • The red-hot medallion is also unearthed from little heaps of earth. --Yatsufusa 16:29, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
  • I can confirm that more potsherds and ash are found in flat dig spots, while fossils are more likely to appear in lumpy dig spots. --NimbleJack3
    • "Fossils are more likely to appear" sounds a little misleading, since in 539 cuts with a spade I never got something else from heaps than fossils and rares, as well as I got never something different fom flat spaces than Unearthed potsherds and handfuls of volcanic ash. --Yatsufusa 17:48, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
      • You could get fossils from the flat spots as well. You were just more likely to get a potsherd or ash than anything else. Lumps always gave fossils (or rares). --Flargen 20:25, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
  • Sinister ancient tablets unearthed from little heaps of earth as well. --Yatsufusa 17:48, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Returning Too Late

Don't know how/where to add this, but trying to return to the Digg after the third layer is done via last Adventure, you get a blank screen. Guywithpasta 21:23, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

  • That's more or less normal KoL-behaviour as far as I my experience goes. I doubt it needs special mentioning that they didn't come up with a special you can stop trying this-line this time. --Yatsufusa 22:31, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
    • Sorry, I thought the norm was "You shouldn't be here". Disregard this section. Guywithpasta 05:18, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
      • They used to do this, but they stopped at some point. I think it was a result of trying to plug up certain exploits or inhibiting content leaks. --Flargen 06:08, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Tent is Now Gone

Shoot, and I was enjoying this, too. -Captain Video 01:45, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Group Monster effect?

Was that added during this event? It was at least noticed at the time. --Raijinili 15:19, 1 July 2011 (CEST)
