Talk:Booty crab

From A KoL Wiki

Booty crab has ~100 HP, and no heat resistance/weakness Robert McFarlane 05:11, 4 December 2007 (CST)

I don't know how to do this, but the booty crap is sleaze. I had was offhand an ob. dagger, and got the attack message of:You deliver a Pesci-esque blow to the back of its head. 64 (+4) (+3) (+6) (+3) (+6) (+1) points' worth of blood ooze out of its ears.--Zerothehero 14:56, 4 December 2007 (CST)

Definite sleaze resistance. I jiggled my grease staff and did (11) (+1) damage. --Blastphemist 01:10, 5 December 2007 (CST)

Meat value

I can confirm that at least 348 Meat can drop without Meat modifiers. Because it did for me. --Pastangum 10:36, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

This one may scale . . . ?

I'm at level 10, stats of 83/103/107, and it seemed to have <64 HP. That's outside the listed range, which is pretty broad to begin with. Also got 301 meat, with Expert Panhandling, and + 5/19/2 substats. --Nahtmmm 22:56, 4 December 2007 (CST)

agree on scaling. at lvl 9 it died at 72hp (single shot, may have much less) and dropped 284 meat. --Hunter thompson 02:44, 4 May 2008 (CDT)

I wonder it references ANOTHER kind of Crab, since it's Sleazy and is found on "Booty"... EW. --Alpha1 12:29, 6 December 2007 (CST) Alpha1

Agreed on the 'crabs' reference. The Lohan message refers to an episode of The Family Guy featuring a nude crabwalking Lindsey Lohan...you had to be there, I guess.--Voort 16:23, 8 December 2007 (CST)

Init

I lost initiative with a total of +320% modifiers. I'm thinking that it gets the jump automatically. --Starwed 14:09, 3 February 2008 (CST)

No faxing, since it's a boss... Dang it. So much for testing it in aftercore. Well, anyone crazy enough to test it with more than +500% initiative?--Jambosque 13:51, 17 August 2011 (CEST)

Physical resist

The booty crab appears to have 25% physical resistance. Confirm or de-confirm? --Prestige 01:36, 20 February 2008 (CST)

  • I'm not exactly set up for spading this in HC, but my 28-pound pixie did 12-20 damage over a small number of attacks. The formula's been updated recently so it should be good. The expected damage would be 14-28. A 25% reduction would result in 10.5-21, and this seems pretty consistent with what I observed. --Bagatelle 20:19, 22 February 2008 (CST)

Divine Blowout with 73 Moxie did 55 damage. 73x.75 = 54.75, which would be pretty well in line with that. For the record, smacking things with party favors is a good way to spade out physical damage resistance where it's suspected. --SwissStopwatch 14:01, 29 February 2008 (CST)

Substat Gains

I fought the crab today, but the stat gains didn't match the predicted amount. In fact, they were (as a L10 Turtle Tamer): You gain 17 Beefiness. You gain a Muscle point! You gain 5 Wizardliness. You gain 9 Cheek. (copied and pasted from the game) This may need to spaded again. Or it could definately scale. And I just realized this data is useless, as I have a 25 Lb. BFV assisting me. --Irregular 00:05, 1 May 2008 (CDT)

  • And it's Myst day. --TechSmurf 02:06, 1 May 2008 (CDT)
    • Absolutely right. That information is now utterly useless. --Irregular 12:34, 1 May 2008 (CDT)

References

X marking the spot on a treasure map refers to Treasure Island, by Robert Louis Stevenson. Add? --Kaelthias 08:16, 21 May 2008 (CDT)

  • X marking the spot references every pirate novel/movie/play/comic book/compilation of erotic fiction ever. I doubt it's specifically Treasure Island in this case. --Drab Emordnilap 09:51, 21 May 2008 (CDT)
    • Actually Tresure Island is the novel from where this stereotype is derived from. It first appeared there, as did many other modern pirate-stereotypes. (missing limbs, parrot, etc.)--Kaelthias 00:36, 22 May 2008 (CDT)

The name of the monster is clearly a reference to "Crab" by Weezer. From the song: "Crab at the booty, it ain't gonna do no good" --Ted the Red 02:52, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Multi-Turn Stun Resistance

I used Disco Blindness (Boogaloo then Eye Poke) on it and it continued to attack. Confirm that it is immune to multi-turn stuns?--Pianoal 04:52, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Quest or Zone

"12:32, 2010 May 21 Itsatrap (Talk | contribs) (2,734 bytes) (→Notes: linked to quest, not zone) (undo)" Since the next map you get as part of the quest doesn't require the swashbuckling outfit, and since after fighting the crab you get a "Back to the Obligatory Pirate's Cove" link, I'd say the zone is a better link for that note. The quest is linked elsewhere in the page. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 19:57, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

  • Mostly I made the change because the combat starts from a "use" link in inventory. It can't be reached from the main map, so I don't like calling it a "zone" adventure. --Itsatrap 23:31, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
    • Well, I suppose you could make a note about it returning you to the pirate's cove regardless of your outfit, assuming that it's a game thing and not a Mafia thing or something. --Itsatrap 23:34, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
      • It's not a Mafia thing. I do not use Mafia. I have had my own scripts for KoL long before Mafia existed, and I am too entrenched to consider switching, even if Mafia does some things better. But my scripts let me change outfits without leaving a page, and similar things, so I run into odd quirks like "You shouldn't be here in that outfit" and then I found a way to get to that page without my scripts. Fight the crab while not dressed up, and then it gives you a "go back" link that doesn't work. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 04:13, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Boss?

Fighting the booty crab with a Knob Goblin Organ Grinder, I received a badass pie. Now, the Organ Grinder still needs spading, but I haven't fought any bosses today. It looks like--in this case, at least--the booty crab counts as a boss. --Ackyri 01:14, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

  • I can second that it counted as a boss earlier this month, but when I fought it today I got the usual sleaze monster pie parts message:"My Hampton..."--Noskilz 20:17, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

Initial Damage

I fought the Booty crab today and lost initiative, as expected. However I received the following message IN ADDITION to the booty crab attacking me first:

The blood rushes to your face as you approach it, bursting several capillaries. How embarrassing! You lose 12 hit points. (sleaze damage)

I was running +90ML so this may cause it. Has anyone else received this message? Skullrock (talk) 18:25, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
