Chaos Butterflies. Lots. That's my bet. --DrKirre 02:01, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

Chaos Butterflies - between 100 and 200. (In KoL I'm Fredmaehn, #809809, if you want to verify that I got it.) Thanks for the idea, DrKirre. --Erdferkel 04:57, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

Looks like it's around 100. I started with about 340 butteflies, and had the trophy by the time I was down to 233. I forgot to note the exact number I started with, but I'm not off by more than 10. --Starwed 05:12, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

  • 100... used in battle, or out of combat? --Katarani 05:32, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

I used them out of combat.--Erdferkel 05:34, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

Confirmed. 100 butterflies out of combat. Just did it then. --TelcontarNuva 05:46, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

I can confirm that you can use them in combat as well. I even used funkslinging to use them quickly. --Creepy McCheese 18:44, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

eww...the one time i give 2000 chaos butterflies to DJ's for contests a trophy is declaired.... gay--Kincody 16:47, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

re-re-confirmed, exactly 100, all in one ascension (or using them against the T-tex does not count for some reason). --Davydd 2 July 2007

its in or out of combat, but not both. as in, you cant use 50 in combat and 50 from inventory. I think. Russianspy1234 16:43, 8 July 2007 (CDT)

Yes, both works... Unless I, for some weird-ass reason, decided to use four of them in combat in a HC run... Unlikely... I used four from inventory, then I figured I might as well use them from combat. So I used 96 of them in combat (counted them!) and got the trophy... --Acdr 13:22, 10 July 2007 (CDT)

If you convert all your meat to meat paste and convert any meat they earn you to meat paste, you'll avoid the embarassment of losing meat, too. -Tannenzaepfle 16:22, 26 July 2007 (CDT)

  • ...or you could just put the Meat in your closet. A lot easier, I might add. --Quietust (t|c) 16:27, 26 July 2007 (CDT)

anyone try using 1000 yet? --stepinrazor 19:17, 26 July 2007 (CDT)

References

I think the "Stormbringer" and "A Sound of Thunder" references are a bit overreaching here. --Sparksol 22:55, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

I really can't comment on the former, but I'm familiar with the latter story, and aside from general chaos theory (which has really reached the mainstream via Jurassic Park), there really isn't a connection.--Toffile 00:16, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
"The idea that one butterfly could have a far-reaching ripple effect on subsequent events seems first to have appeared in a 1952 short story by Ray Bradbury about time travel." Twenty years later, the lead proponent of chaos theory mentions and cites the story in his paper, coining the term "butterfly effect". Did you look into it at all? ArsRampancy 03:17, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Emphatically agreed. If TPTB wanted to reference A Sound of Thunder, they could have named the trophy... drumroll please... A Sound of Thunder. --BagatelleT/C 00:34, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
What's the first thing you hear when a storm is coming? Thunder. ArsRampancy 03:17, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
