Talk:Brutus, the toga-clad lout

From A KoL Wiki

Fought today and did not appear to drop a wreath of laurels, though upon checking, I do in fact have one. Definitely did not appear amongst the spoils though, just a white class ring and 727 meat. Possibilities: I fought him earlier, you can only have one Wreath; weird bug. --Davydd 03:29, 19 September 2007 (CDT)

  • scratch that, pickpocket, duh! If you pickpocket an item, you cant get it after the fight apparently. not sur eif that's documented anywhere, but the same thing happened again and I watched more closely. pickpocketing for sure. sorry. --Davydd 03:51, 19 September 2007 (CDT)

The "Bluto being renamed Brutus" bit is an obvious Popeye reference, but it should still probably be noted.--YunaTwilight 13:28, 12 January 2008 (CST)

  • It would be a reference if not for the fact that you would be referencing a reference which on a wiki is a bad thing. --Chunky_boo 13:42, 12 January 2008 (CST)
  • If the monster were named Bluto you would have a point, since the allusion to Popeye would be being made solely by Animal House. However, the specific name change is a separate allusion to the history of the Popeye cartoon that Animal House did NOT make.--YunaTwilight 15:37, 12 January 2008 (CST)

new item drop

Tonight i was fighting one of these guys and he dropped a pair of kick-ass kicks. Just thought that somebody would want to look in on it.

I managed to get a beer helmet to drop today and so updated the page accordingly. Not sure if it matters, but this was after pickpocketing his wreath (in a BM kitty run).--Thumbtack 18:39, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Encounter chance?

I did my entire mysterious island run as a hippie and didn't fight him. Did I mess up?

Nope, heroes are rare encounters. --Albino Toad 17:57, 22 October 2011 (CEST)

no onr knows the exact mechanic, but doing a no side-quest run should ensure that you see all the heroes. even one side-quest could mean you don't see any. one way to think of it is as heroes happening on a numbered turn. 227, say. if you're counting 1, 2, 3 you'll hit that, but 2, 4, 6 you won't. given that the numbers are random in the space, the fewer numbers you hit the lower your chance of picking a hero number. although there is still a chance you'll hit more than one however few you hit. --Evilkolbot 18:32, 22 October 2011 (CEST)

Fumble Message?

I got the combat text "He shotguns a beer, crushes the can on his forehead, and looks dazed for a minute.", but it didn't say (Fumble!). Maybe this message is both a fumble and a miss message? --TwirlyRotini (talk) 00:52, 1 January 2016 (UTC)

Meanwhile, "He downs another beer, sways, staggers forward, belches, throws up a little, spits, downs another beer, steps back to pee, sways, looks at you blearily... (FUMBLE!)" Maybe the page has these two messages switched? --TwirlyRotini (talk) 00:56, 1 January 2016 (UTC)
