Talk:Bugbear Invasion

From A KoL Wiki

How The Key-O-Tron Works

It looks like you have to first create a key with five BURTs, and then you can start taking "bio-data segments" from specific bugbears to open specific areas. In other words, you can't just keep gathering from the same bugbear and open all the areas, you have to gather from the correct bugbear. The Back Alley waste-gathering bugbears open the Waste Disposal Unit (3 units), the Spooky Forest Bugbear nurses open the Medbay (3 units), and the Bat Hole bugbears open the Sonar room (3 units). I haven't seen them for myself, but I'm guessing the Laboratory bugbears will open the Science Lab (6 units), and there'll probably be a bugbear in the Graveyard and/or Cyrpt that will open the Morgue (6 units). - The Wrassedragon 18:45, 15 May 2012 (CEST)

New Council Text

How are we going to add the new text which appears in the council? Do we add it to the Council Page or to this page?--Icon315♕ (|) 07:04, 16 May 2012 (CEST)

  • I suppose changes made by this challenge path should better be added to this page instead of the individual pages where changes apply. --Beliar Lightbearer 15:11, 16 May 2012 (CEST)

Is it worth noting that after you free the king, the council gives their normal text referring to you fighting the sorceress?--AtGNAT 15:37, 18 May 2012 (CEST)

1st Level of Mothership

Waste Processing - The page says to sniff the tentacle monster but I find I get the handful of juicy garbage from grouchy furry monster just as often. So why bother sniffing the monster? I am running +55% item drop if that's any help. --djve 11:29 24 May 2012 (CEST)

The furry monster has a much lower drop rate on the juicy garbage than the tentacle monster does. That is why you want to sniff the latter, not the former -- unless you have some way to cap the lower drop rate. And I don't even think we know what the drop rates are yet. But meh. If people are so dead set on providing bad advice on the page that they keep putting it out there repeatedly, I give up. --Greycat 19:52, 1 August 2012 (CEST)

  • I'm sorry Greycat, I can only act on what I know. At this very moment, the wiki doesn't know the juicy garbage drop-rates for both those monsters and I personally haven't noticed much difference in the drop-rates in any of my bugbear-runs. Same as yourself, I was trying to help and improve the strategy. We all are. If you know the drop-rates, for the love of Cthulhu, please add them to the respective pages, so we can conscientious improve said strategy. On the other hand if you haven't got anything but your gut-feeling you are still invited to put some "(tentacle monsters seem to have the higher drop-rates. needs spading.)" to the page. Thank you for expressing your concern instead of just being mad at the wiki-people without saying anything. --Yatsufusa 01:46, 2 August 2012 (CEST)

2nd Level of Mothership

Science Lab - Use quantum nanopolymer spider web dropped by the Spiderbugbear on the Bugbear Scientist. 10 times worked for me
Morgue - Pretty straight forward kill morticians(Olfaction) for tweezers and remove all the body parts(reduce combat) --Moraglar Khilen 17:13, 16 May 2012 (CEST)

  • I needed 10 quantum nanopolymer spider webs as well. --Versusthemayor 08:38, 17 May 2012 (CEST)

It took me 6 battles in the Special Ops room to clear it. --Versusthemayor 10:49, 18 May 2012 (CEST)

Bugbear Detector

Needs spading, but I have noticed that if I have a bugbear sniffed AND I have the detector equipped, I get fewer bugbears than if I have one sniffed and take the detector off. Is it possible that the detector makes the bugbears appear every X adventures? If not, what exactly does it do, and how is it interacting with on the trail? -perrers

Elevator adventures

For the adventures that tell you that power gets turned off, restored, or still on all appear to be superlikelies. They are overridden by wandering monsters.--Toffile 02:12, 18 May 2012 (CEST)

Galley section in need of edit?

I spent about 20 adventures in the Galley and saw no signs of progression until using the Pacification grenade against very angry cavebugbears. Should this be clarified that using them are required or would that be considered too much of a spoiler? I'm noticing a lot of spoilers on this page already though...

I didn't pacify at all, and got through it after the 15th (had a bunch of buffs running to handle them) --Sceptre boy 02:01, 24 May 2012 (CEST)

confirmation, second time through, no pacification. fought 15 cavebugbears- last one was 'very very very very very very very very very very very very very very angry cavebugbear'--Sceptre boy 20:57, 31 May 2012 (CEST)

The Bat Hole

Alluding to the question mark in the Strategy table... I've encountered batbugbears in Guano Junction and the Beanbat chamber, but not the Boss Bat's chambers. I haven't tested the other two areas in the bat hole.--Hastifer 20:22, 24 May 2012 (CEST)

Bugbear outfit

Does wearing the bugbear outfit speed up your chance at finding bugbears? I remember seeing an increase in frequency when I put it on, but the sample size was too small to actually conclude anything.--Toffile 18:13, 27 May 2012 (CEST)

Path trophy?

Not for:

  • Summoning all BURT items during a hardcore run
  • Wearing all wearable BURT items, Bugbear Costume, and communication badge to the Trophy Hut during a hardcore run

Other ideas? --ElroyJetson 23:37, 1 June 2012 (CEST)

Misc. Notes

I occasionally encountered this little side note after finishing combats in the Cobb's Knob Harem: "You hear a loud thump in the distance, and a few moments later a wave of heat hits you like a ton of bricks. Hot bricks, like bricks from inside an oven or something."

  • Does this mean something? I can't find it on the wiki anywhere, and it looks like it means something. Never seen it until I started a Bugbear Invasion run. --TheNachomancer 01:57, 11 June 2012 (CEST)
    • This most likely has to do with an upcoming world event and is not bugbear-invasion specific. --Itsatrap 03:42, 11 June 2012 (CEST)

Apparently Bugbear Invasion negates the bonus fullness provided by the Feast of Boris: "Today is the Feast of Boris. Unfortunately, bugbear mind-control rays are suppresing[sic] your appetite..." Spading now. --TheNachomancer 06:34, 9 July 2012 (CEST)

  • Feast of Boris isn't supposed to work in the seasonal challenge paths at all.--Toffile 12:00, 9 July 2012 (CEST)

I just clicked on the bridge while overdrunk and got the following message. "It's a bad idea to mess around near bridges when you're drunk. Trust me on that one." Is there a specific incident that might be referring to?--Dessalvara (talk) 14:54, 7 July 2013 (UTC)

Stainless Steel Items

I remember not getting any stainless items from clearing the hardcore Bugbear Invasion back in the day. Newer normal class challenge paths (like KOLHS) seem to award stainless items on hardcore. Has this been changed for the Bugbear Invasion as well? --Yatsufusa (talk) 13:49, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
