Made this quickly after noticing the gap. As I noted, someone please rewrite/reformat it to be... well, better. --Agent Lex 17:06, 16 Jun 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
- Is that huge number right? I doubt Jick is using a 64-bit integer internally, and if I recall correctly, the amount was closer to the 32-bit max, 4,294,967,295. Can someone else confirm? --Fryguy9 15:50, 20 June 2007 (CDT)
- It most definitely was a 64-bit integer at the time - a bug in MySQL (which is reportedly unfixable) means that setting an unsigned bigint field to a negative number sets it to MAX_BIGINT (i.e. 18 quintillion) instead of zero, while 32-bit integer fields behaved correctly. I would know - I've run into the exact same bug in one of my own projects. Presumably, one of the fixes for the meat vortex bug was to eventually change the player's Meat count to a 32-bit integer, since nobody should ever have more than 4 billion meat at once. --Quietust (t|c) 16:13, 20 June 2007 (CDT)
anyone know who discovered the bug? --Bob221 17:51, 27 August 2007 (CDT)
- I dont know who discovered the 'Black Sunday' bug ,but about the 'October 10th Bug meat, i think it was TehBobert , Princess1 and a probably a few others who found and used the bug. TehBobert and Princess1 also hosted alot of fancy AR's probably trying to give away the bug meat or repent for their act of hacking by giving stuff away in AR's.--TehChozenOne 21:57, 9 January 2008 (CST)
