Talk:Canticle of Carboloading

From A KoL Wiki

I guess it's something like got milk, but just for a single meal, maybe it would be useful for permanency if it was giving a lot of adventures. --UrQuan 20:24, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

I got 6 additional adventures from a cold hi mein--Inspector Gadget 04:28, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

I got nothing from Super Salads.--Arbarbonif 17:09, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

A) Read the desc. It only applies to pasta dishes, so salads won't work.
B) Not permable (for now). Ascended yesterday and it didn't show in the list of skills, which was a big bummer. Argus 01:57, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Regarding (A), I believe Arbarbonif posted that to help with spading at the time when we didn't know what exactly the effect did. --TimRem 02:20, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

Canticle from day 1 stacked successfully with Canticle from day 2 when there were no pasta eaten on day 1 to give 6 adventures. i wonder how high can it go... --Hrag 20:48, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

Upon looking back, the day before getting 6 adv I had carboloaded without eating. In other words, my results match those of Hrag. I think it is safe to say that it can be "charged". The next step is to not eat for several days and see if their is a limit. Their has to be a limit because, well, i hardly doubt Jick would want to make it possible to have a 1000 adv day. (i know that would take almost a year of charging)--Inspector Gadget 03:27, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

  • Hey, if a guy does a 100% Teleportitis run, I'm betting someone would try for a 1000 adventure bonus from a bowl of boring spaghetti... =D --Bonkbonk 06:37, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

I just received 15 extra adventures from this by eating an asparagus lo mein. I believe I had been stacking it for 5 days, but I could be off.--Abbywill 15:33, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

  • 6 days does give 18 adventures from it.--Toffile 01:27, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

It may be interesting to test if we can stack 3X adventures, than ascend as P again, get again this skill and receive stacked adventures in new ascension after eating some pasta dish ;) --NightBird 18:45, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

I suspect that this is the key to Trophy #88 --Baltar 21:14, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, it would fit the pattern of the other nemesis quest trophies being things that you (mostly) do after finishing the quest. And in case anyone was wondering, this does activate when eating evil noodle dishes with no unexpected effects that I could see. --Prestige 14:54, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Do the days of stacking have to be consecutive days? --Kay Dekker 20:57, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

  • No, my understanding is that they do not have to be consecutive. You can skip a few and then do some more. So long as it doesn't get triggered by eating pasta dishes it stays. Whether it caps is another matter. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 22:42, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Confirmed that days do not have to be consecutive; Also, I stacked for 15 total days, received 45 additional adventures from cold hi-mein. --Personal Robot Jesus 05:39, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Also works with carob chunk noodles. --Bonkbonk 06:08, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

You can get the trophy with 10 or more castings. I miscalculated on a multi and did 11, then ate pasta. 33 extra adventures and the trophy. --Dessalvara 09:17, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Just got 60 adventures after finally eating a pasta dish. Not sure how many times I cast carboloading, and I definitely skipped days over the last month. Stacks at least to 20, anyhow.--Suinoq 21:16, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Just got 63 adventures bonus, so it can stack for 3 weeks. --Afelias 07:04, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

114 adventure bonus (38*3), so the cap is larger than 37 days. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 21:47, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

189 adventure bonus from 63 non-consecutive days of casting. Woohoo! --Kay Dekker 12:52, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

261 adv bonus from 87 non-consecutive days of casting --NightBird 08:17, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

759 adv bonus suggests that the cap is above 253 days. (see forum thread for more details). -Tannenzaepfle 04:17, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

I didn't keep track of the number of times I cast it, but I just got 981 adventures from delicious noodles. --Pilomotor (talk) 20:06, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

A Few Questions

First, does this stack with Salad Forks? 4 extra adventures per cast would be nice. Anybody done spading yet? Also, as for ascension. I'd like to assume that Jick would kill the counter upon ascending, but can you charge for a few days, ascend, then eat for uber-turns on Day 1? Just some things to consider. --Almightysapling 19:39, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Would assume since you can't perm that at the beginning of your ascension you would not have the skill thus the stored amount in the skill would be 0 advs. I would bet the added advs. occur after the salad fork effect but you never know until you try, might wanna try a salad fork when you have 10+ days of the skill charged up. --Uzziah 21:45, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Evil Noodles

Just ate 3vi1 pr0n m4nic0tti after two days of Carboloading, and got the additional 6 adventures. I haven't tried it with other evil noodle dishes, would someone else like to give it a shot? --I Shot the Serif 16:21, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunate Dumplings

Has anyone tried this with unfortunate dumplings? I understand why you would not want to, seeing as dumplings give no adventure and take 3 fullness, but it'd still be an interesting experiment.--Zorkman 22:02, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Definitive pasta

Is it the foods that have , or is it the foods that include dry noodles, like lasagna? --Raijinili 21:11, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Actually, cream of pointy mushroom soup'd. --Raijinili 21:12, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
  • 'Scuse me, but this is not definitively answered on the page, and the talk page does not show signs of spading non-bowl.gif dry noodle foods. What the page says is "pasta". What the page links to is "dry noodles". "Pasta" isn't equivalent to the class of the game's noodle dishes in real life (again, lasagna and wontons), and it shouldn't be assumed so on the text of this page, either. --Raijinili 03:04, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

I think the intent is for pasta to be any food that, IRL, would be considered pasta. --Starwed 22:19, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

  • Has this been tested? The unfortunate dumplings up there had no response. --Raijinili 03:04, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
  • I triggered this (and the Pastamancer MP bonus) with Ludovico Pastaco. Can we assume the same set of foods qualify for both? Maybe make a category to sort this out? —Yendor (talk) 09:45, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
