A note, when I used it, it does not do anything in subsequent rounds like the tomato, egg, et al. I crit hit my enemy on the next hit. Unfortunately, I'm level 18, so I can't tell if it was an autohit or not.--Toffile 15:57, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Well, the caret in Nethack is a trap, if I remember right, so it wouldn't make sense for Dungeons of Doom. And Anime Smiley is the only enemy in the Valley with a caret in it, so that'd be my scientific guess. --MoreUmlaut 17:30, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
