Talk:Chaos butterfly
- The use of the chaos butterfly to defeat the T-Rex may be a refrence to "A Sound of Thunder" by Ray Bradbury. --19:56, 15 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
- I'd agree or disagree with you if I could, but you never explained your reference :-P --JRSiebz 20:22, 15 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
- Asked on the Jick show - turns out its not. As to the story, some hunters go back in time and kill a T-Rex that was to die that day. One hunter gets scared, gets off the levetating platform (to make sure that nothing is damaged) and steps on a butterfly. {{spoiler|They return to present day and the timeline is subtably altered (the alphabet is diffrent and the person who became preseident is diffrent). The leader of the hunter raises the gun at the guy who stepped on a butterfly and is now mumbling "such a small change" and pulled the trigger. A sound of thunder.}} This short story is about a butterfly and a T-Rex long before Jurassic Park was. --Shagie 23:59, 15 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
- Heh, that's actually quite interesting ;-D --JRSiebz 00:21, 16 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
I think the fact that the chaos butterfly is used to kill the t-rex because its a reference to Jurrasic Park (the book). The book is largely a book about chaos theory, and its also a book about dinosaurs. --LiquidPhire 21:15, 15 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
- Well yeah we already know that, I just meant that I'd like to have the reference to "A Sound of Thunder" by Ray Bradbury explained, because that way those people who know nothing about the book (like me) will at least understand the reference. --JRSiebz 21:33, 15 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
- the terry pratchett reference is just another joke on the butterfly effect. pre-existing uses of common terms are not relevant. --Evilkolbot 13:04, 7 May 2006 (CDT)
- What happens when this is used in combat? --Jedibob5 07:11, 29 May 2006 (CDT)
- (explained)
- Was this a source of Black Sunday bugmeat, or could it be again? It seems to have the same basic workings. -Deveiel 04:55, 17 July 2006 (CDT)
- um pretty much i think it may give adventures too...at least now because i gained 11 adventures from the 100 i used for the trophy....anyone able to help me back that up --Kincody 10:54, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
- No, I also just used 100 butterflies. I started (and ended) with 47 adventures... so I'd guess no. --Burgie12
N = ?
Does anybody have a formula for N?
Contrary to the article, 40 is definitely not the cap. I have experienced loss and gains as high as 50 for all stats. --Wackoon 03:14, 2 June 2008 (CDT)
Negative meat effect
If you happen to get the negative meat effect of the butterfly, but have no meat in your inventory, the butterfly will still be used up. But, you won't have negative meat (Black Sunday fix) and the meat in your closet won't be touched either. Is there a way to mention this on the main page, or is this a bug...? --Burgie12
my chaos butterfly wont appear in my items page in combat

- Try logging out and logging back in. Moving things between closet/Hangk/inventory is apparently buggy. --Bagatelle 17:25, 18 June 2008 (CDT)
