The "When Ascending" section of this page is inaccurate (unlogged update, no doubt). I just pulled my ChibiBuddy™ (on) from Hagnks, and it gave this message when I used it:

You go to use your ChibiBuddy™, but the batteries are dead. Man, how long 
was this thing left turned on? You switch it off and slip in some fresh batteries.

Now you look at the ChibiBuddy™ for a few minutes...

...and the rest is normal ChibiBuddy™ (off) text.
