Talk:Creepy Grin

From A KoL Wiki

what if you did this in the dire warren?--Argus 02:26, 3 November 2007 (CDT)

  • Similar to Harold's bell, nothing happens if you use it in a single monster area. --Tripwood 11:46, 3 November 2007 (CDT)

If you use this skill then take off the mask does the effect still work? --Darkness 17:52, 3 November 2007 (CDT)

  • It doesn't appear to. I just used it on an empty suit of armor, switched it out for monster bait, and the next two combats were armors. For what it's worth, I put it back on and no armors for the remaining 8 adventures. Mr. Blonde 01:49, 4 November 2007 (CST)
  • I can confirm this. Grinned at a Spectral Jellyfish, removed the mask and got a Jellyfish two turns later. This should probably be noted on the effect's page, I think. --Shoptroll 20:55, 2 December 2007 (CST)

I'm not sure how to properly add this onto the main page, but here's the message if you have a Navel ring equipped:
"The expression on your already-creepy mask changes to an even creepier grin. Your opponent shrieks like a little girl and runs off into the bushes. The pyramid of energy surrounding you shimmers as you quickly float away."--Lostcalpolydude 01:11, 4 November 2007 (CST)

  • On top of that, I think I got to use Creepy Grin for free.--Lostcalpolydude 01:13, 4 November 2007 (CST)

The Creepy Grin seems to work funny against beefy bodyguard bats. I got a plain-text message reading: "Couldn't find an appropriate monster in the zone. Exiting." It didn't consume an adventure, but happened twice trying to enter the Boss Bat's Lair. 3rd time was the Boss Bat. Figured it was worth mentioning. --The sofa king 01:59, 8 November 2007 (CST)

  • i'm guessing that happens in a zone where there's only one monster. could you check against the bunnies? --Evilkolbot 06:39, 8 November 2007 (CST)
    • In this case, the issue is that you're supposed to be forced to fight at least 4 bodyguards before you can fight the Boss Bat. Clicking on the square is counting down that counter without actually fighting a bodyguard.--Lostcalpolydude 10:21, 12 November 2007 (CST)
  • Have you (or anyone) tried using the Grin against the Boss Bat and not the Bodyguards? I hear some people do that with Harold's Bell to get 20 turns of a big meat-drop. --Wildfire393 09:40, 8 November 2007 (CST)

I think perhaps Jick and co just "fixed" the no-mp when using creepy grin with the navel ring? I had both equipped just now and it actually cost me the 29MP to cast... I'll check again tomorrow --Mailbox head 10:16, 2 December 2007 (CST)

I have checked it over 2 ascensions now; having the navel ring equipped no longer reduces the MP cost to 0. If somebody else can confirm this we can get the entry fixed. --Mailbox head 17:02, 5 December 2007 (CST)

  • I've had the MP cost for a couple days now at least, that I've noticed. Updating the main page. --Lostcalpolydude 06:55, 6 December 2007 (CST)

What if you used this on the pooltergeist and Harold's bell on the chalk dust monster? Would the next ten adventures be pure 17-ball? And if this doesn't work, what about using it on the bean counters and elite guards to get meat gems? --Shademaster00 18:15, 18 December 2007 (CST)

Creepy Grin is not effective if, for some reason, you have the On the Trail effect set for the monster you are trying to Grin away. I accidentally used Olfaction on a Bullet Bill. On the next encounter, I used Creepy Grin to try and get rid of the Bills for a while, and then immediately encountered a Bill on the next turn.--Hawksmoor 12:34, 17 February 2008 (CST)

I found this today, too. Wanted to get rid of an Olfacted monster without using a SGEEA (don't ask - it made sense) but it showed up immediately thereafter. I shall add a note to Creepy Grin. --DerMagus 07:41, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
