Just to satisfy my curiosity, I tried it in one of the altars:

I think I got a bug with this. I have a lasagmbie in the orb and spagetthi elemental in use. When i use the orb i get this message:

Concentrating on the spirit orb, you shout "SshoPodohomopobododododo I choose you!" The image of the Lasagmbie vanishes from the crystal sphere, and you feel a brief mental struggle as SshoPodohomopobododododo re-establishes its link to you and SshoPodohomopobododododo is displaced into the crystal sphere. Looking into the orb, you see the image of the Spaghetti Elemental looking around confused.

When using it again the bug remains, the only thing in the text which changes is the type of entity, not the name... -kubaf

there is a bug indeed and it was reported. logging out and in will help fix the name but next usage will spoil it again --Hrag 20:57, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

I also have a bug with the orb. I normally use a Bow Tie Bat, but I had to swap it for my Spaghetti Elemental. When I put the BTB into the orb, and looked inside to check it was there before summoning my Elemental, the Bat's name had changed from Flappity Ping to Fangity Fang. When I swapped the Pasta Guardians over, no longer having need for the Elemental, the Bat's name changed back.

• That happened to me yesterday! Exactly! I had a Bat named "Flappity Floop" that became "Fangity Fang" and then back again after it was switched. I wonder if there's something about the name "Fangity Fang". --Bale 20:30, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

i had a name change too in my previous pastamancer ascension, though it was a different pasta guardian. --Hrag 21:42, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Same for me, my spice ghost's name was bakbik, but after a tragic run in with the orb, it turned into flimflem. I miss bakbik. :( Argus 02:55, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Guardians No More

Today in /hardcore (intervening comments removed):

Alodar: wish I could DC the orb despite it being a quest item since it is worthless now anyway

Alodar: can't really do anything with it anyway

Alodar: "This is a thing that doesn't really do anything anymore."

Alodar: that is the result you get with use or look
