Talk:Cyrus the Virus

From A KoL Wiki

I think the adventures name is a play on a character from the movie Con-Air with Nicholas Cage.--Beliar Lightbearer 15:39, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

I agree entirely, and placed the reference in there. Although it needs to be cleaned up. But as the page isn't done, I wasn't too troubled about it.--Narc 03:45, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

How much do we know about what this unlocks?--Phantomreader42 22:58, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Everything. Also, evil cultist. --Melon 23:09, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

I suspect that the particular base pairs you feed to Cyrus might alter the future in some way. Whenever he takes one, it says something like "he looks stronger" or "he looks prettier"; the message corresponds to the effect the base pair has when you use it against other bacteria. But because you never actually fight Cyrus, you never get to experience the effects of these changes. Maybe the High Priest in the distant past gains the effects? Or maybe you can unlock something by feeding Cyrus the base pairs in a particular order. --Quine 01:05, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Well we have faster and stronger, what would "better" be? --BunnyStalker 03:14, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

He seems to be sleaze resistant: "Lilium [sleazy gravy fairy] kicks your opponent in the shin (or shin-analogue) with her clear plastic high-heels, for 1 damage."--Daisygirl 23:02, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Just got this message when using a base pair. Not sure if it's for the second base pair, or the second of the same type. Out of turns to check with.

You remember trying to put a base pair in your body, but having Cyrus smack it out of your hand.
"Useless," he said, "Useless! I'm already smarter than anything else in this place."
Cyrus glared at you.
"I'm not wasting my time with you any more," he said, as he rammed into you, knocking you on what would have been your ass, if you had had an ass, back down into the orangeness below you.

Is it possible to funksling 2 different base pairs at him during one battle in order to finish the quest with fewer amino acids? --Quietust (t|c) 16:47, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

I tried it, but he just absorbed the first one and beat me up. I still had the other one left. --TheArchivist 17:30, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Confirmed. Eats the first one, beaten up straight away, and end with the second back in my inventory. --Denarius 17:52, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

In regards to any resistance, i'll hit him with a yohohoyo next time, as it shows a hit for all 5 elements. --Sean12349999 00:42, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Dear Mr. (or Ms.) Fig bucket, You are incorrect. The messages are not related to the number of items you've used, they're related to the base pair you've chosen to use. I can confirm I did not get the messages in the specified order. Love, -C --Crawly2 14:32, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

  • Ah, ok, that makes sense. That would probably be true about the description messages as well then. --Fig bucket 14:53, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Flyering

Can you use an arena flyer on Cyrus? --Tripwood 04:29, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Yes. Also, if you have Ambidextrous Funkslinging, you can use the flyers and base pair memory on him in the same round. Vorzer 17:49, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Didn't Kill Me On BP Use - Cyrus glares at you.

Any thoughts? This has me confused.

You remember trying to put a base pair in your body, and Cyrus saying "Hey! Give me that!"

You remember him grabbing it and shoving it into his own primitive form, and you remember him getting faster.

Then, unfortunately, you remember him grinning as he beat you to a pulp. Well, to more of a pulp than you normally were. You lose 70 hit points. Brq3lz? bleeps, "MEDICAL SYSTEMS ACTIVATED," and fires a dart into your neck. You suddenly feel much better. You gain 59 hit points. You gain 59 Muscularity Points.

Cyrus glared at you.

"I'm not wasting my time with you any more," he said, as he rammed into you, knocking you on what would have been your ass, if you had had an ass, back down into the orangeness below you. You lose 47 hit points.

Still not beaten up, yet. I was funkslinging a BP and a spectre sceptre. I was already beaten up going into the fight, had 10ish HP going into the fight. -Keith P.S. This was my third base pair. Only have 12 HP left.

Factoids

Cyrus can be killed for factoids, but it is difficult to do so. Cyrus is normally immune to physical and elemental damage with a few exceptions. This immunity be bypassed using Fist of the Mummy. With enough +spell damage and ka coins to pay for undying cyrus can be killed. Killing him does not advance the quest and thus can be done 3 times in a row. The ka coin cost can be mitigated by using blockers to stop him from attacking. Confirmed items that can block his attacks are ancient stone head , navel ring of navel gazing , attorney's badge, And Ed servants which prevent enemy attack. relevant thread --Taltamir (talk) 06:30, 5 January 2019 (UTC)

3 factoids collected in 3 consecutive fights.
As Ed it took 21 fist of the mummy and 2 or 3 UNDYING! I spent most of my day's turns on Toxic Vengeance (about 250 turns (4100+%), this was overkill). I had reserved 200 Ka from the war, this was also too much.
I had the Maid as my servant. Equipped for blocking was: ancient stone head, attorney's badge, eight days a week pillkeeper and asteroid belt. Installed Smoke-Ra from the Florist after my first fight with Cyrus.
Other equipment I had was: Amoon-Ra Cowtep's Nemes, battery-powered drill, vampyric cloake and Pantaloons of Hatred.
Effects (other than Toxic Vengeance): red-shirted escort, witch breaded, ninja please, celestial mind, human-horror hybrid.
That's about it, it was a fairly easy fight because I was so overpowered. It could be optimised quite a lot and probably without any special consumables or equipment (other than Dinsey ticket and the agua bottle). It added an extra day to my softcore Ed run; I was still in ronin when I finished.
