Talk:Death ray in a pear tree

From A KoL Wiki

Does this enemy scale with level? As a level 12 Turtle Tamer (137, 103, 108), and my toy space helmet/detective skull say it has ~210 HP. --Itsatrap 23:50, 12 December 2007 (CST)

  • To answer my own question: yes, this seems to scale to player level (as expected). --Itsatrap 03:23, 13 December 2007 (CST)

On pear drop statistics: I was able to successfully pickpocket it. Are there any reports of people not acquiring one? -Tannenzaepfle 19:48, 13 December 2007 (CST)

  • I didn't get one, but I went in right after rollover.--GoldS 20:18, 13 December 2007 (CST)
  • Two days, two pears -- I almost thought it was 100%. My droprate's boosted only in 15% Kobayen 01:29, 14 December 2007 (CST)

I think it may be 100%, or at least very high. On a multi, I put on a naval ring, and did a dozen rounds of combat, with auto-pickpocket on, and successfully pickpocketed a pear every time; I then ran away (sometimes saving a turn thanks to the naval ring) and repeated the combat. Later, I'll run through 100 rounds or so, see if I ever miss a pickpocket. (I believe pickpocket is not affected by +item.)--Terion 06:02, 14 December 2007 (CST)

  • PS: The turtle's shield is definitely not as high as the pear; I didn't think to do any running away, but on the two turtles I fought, I did not get a single shield, neither as a pickpocket nor as normal loot.--Terion 06:03, 14 December 2007 (CST)
    • OK, I think it's 100%. I just ran through 300 combats manually, so I could visually confirm the successful pickpockets. I had pickpocket set as my auto-attack, with plenty of +init; I got the jump on the laser-inna-tree every time, and every combat I successfully pickpocketed a pear, after which I would run away. I'm sure there's some possibility that it's a very high probability and the RNG just never failed for me, but the statisticians can figure that out. ;) 300 combats, 300 successful pickpockets of pears.--Terion 07:05, 14 December 2007 (CST)
  • Hate to burst the bubble, but I killed a pear tree and got no pear, until that point I thought it was a for sure 100% drop.--Plater (t|c) 08:59, 17 December 2007 (CST)
