Talk:Disgustin' Junction

From A KoL Wiki

current text is that of The Former or the Ladder, not Disgustin' Junction, as far as i'm aware of --Snarl 06:35, 17 June 2008 (CDT) sorry, actually, it appears text in both is similar-- depending on your choice, and what's been 'opened-- changes for the 'head down the tunnel' option, so current text may vary for different players. --Snarl 06:40, 17 June 2008 (CDT)

Some of the descriptions in "head down the tunnel" seem like they require certain items. The one with the gate that says "Looks like you've got two options -- go on a diet, or find some way to grease yourself up" could require you to have an Oil of oiliness on hand. The one where the C.H.U.M. guy asks for a jewel could require a Sewer wad and there are a few others that seem like they require other items, possibly the sewage-based drinks. I haven't had been able to open hobopolis yet (for lack of the required meats), but I'd like to help with spading, so my suggestion is to try doing this adventure with a bit of each on hand to see if the messages are different. --Glitterboy

The drunk C.H.U.M. does have a different message if you have a bottle of Ooze-O in your inventory. Sorry I missed the text in my excitement.--Wylin 19:38, 17 June 2008 (CDT)

I suspect that the goldfish wants the sewage dumplings, then. Also, eventually someone will have to adventure here with the hbo code book and decipher the maze marks. --Killerrabbit

The title may be a reference to "Conjuntion Junction". --BaruMonkey 10:34, 19 June 2008 (CDT)

Having the goatskin umbrella (I had it equipped, not sure if simply being in inventory is sufficient - it probably is) yields this text: "You duck down a branching tunnel, and your way is blocked by a torrent of effluent (it's like a wave of mutilation, but messier) pouring from an overhead pipe. Fortunately, your gatorskin umbrella allows you to pass beneath the sewagefall without incident. There's not much left of the umbrella, though, and you discard it before moving deeper into the tunnel." --Uknowforkids 12:52, 20 June 2008 (CDT)

Also, the fish does want unfortunate dumplings: "As you trudge down another side tunnel through more waist-deep sewage, your progress is blocked when an immense zombie goldfish rears his head directly in front of you. You start to freak out, but then you notice that the goldfish seems to be wearing a... monocle? Your fear turns to interest.

"I say," says the goldfish, "but would you happen to have any decent food? I've had ever so much trouble finding anything acceptable to eat since Master Stephen flushed me."

"How about these?" you ask, offering the fish some of your unfortunate dumplings.

"Ah!" he exclaims. "These will indubitably satisfy my refined appetite. Merci Beaucoup, old chap! Pip pip!"

You leave the fish to his delicious meal and proceed further down the tunnel." --Uknowforkids 12:53, 20 June 2008 (CDT)

If you can read the glyphs the first message changes to

You come to a 3-way junction of sewer tunnels. They're identical, except for some strange-looking glyphs carved into the stone above each one. You flip through your code binder, and figure out that one of the glyphs is code for 'shortcut', while the others are the glyphs for 'longcut' and 'crewcut', respectively. You head down the 'shortcut' tunnel

Not sure which bit of the binder gives you this ability I have

notes you've gathered from your experiences in The Penultimate Fantasy Airship, The "Fun" House, The Sleazy Back Alley, Thugnderdome, Belowdecks, The Poker Room, Noob Cave and Cobb's Knob Menagerie, Level 3.

With no extra notes I got another set of glyphs decoded next time

You encounter a spot where a ladder passes through the tunnel from the ceiling to the floor. You notice some symbols scratched on the sewer wall near the ladder. You flip through your code binder, and gain a basic understanding of the sign: "This ladder just goes in a big circle. If you climb it you'll end up back where you started." You continue down the tunnel, instead.

Closed grate at the end of the tunnel

Does opening the grate as a choice, allow you to get through the grate later?--Warjunkie 22:09, 2 July 2008 (CDT)

  • Doesn't look like it. This afternoon, with no clannies logged in, I opened three grates and then failed a grate test. I think opening grates allows your clannies to pass the grate test. --BaronVonWurlitzer 16:38, 4 July 2008 (CDT)
  • I don't know. I soloed my way through the Sewers and opened grates that I later went through. Of course, later on a multi in a different clan, they all appeared to be open when I got to them, so I guess it could go either way.--RicFule 22:12, 4 July 2008 (CDT)
