Talk:Dr. Hobo's scalpel

From A KoL Wiki

VG Cats Reference?

The reference seems very obscure. Not sure that Jick often references webcomics. Since the item description text in the item is so short I don't believe that this item references anything. --SomeStranger (Talk | Contribs) 09:23, 28 April 2006 (CDT)

  • I am fairly certain that it is a reference to VG Cats, since Jick already referenced "how u mine 4 fish" in the miss message for the Lamz0r N00b, which is a reference to this VG Cats strip--Poadzor 00:21, 23 June 2006 (CDT)

Isn't that strip just referring to another RPG? --LucySpace (Talk|Cntrbs) 18:03, 26 June 2006 (CDT)

  • So? The fact that the name is "Dr. Hobo" in the game is a pretty clear reference to the only google search reference that's not us or Subjunctive, and that's the Dr. Hobo from VG Cats. Who says an item (or items) can't reference multiple things in one sentence? Anyhow, Indiana Jones never carried a scalpel. Dr. Hobo of VG Cats regularly carried a scalpel. As I can find no other references to anything else, other than VG Cats and a bazillion webpages referencing KoL and this very item, I must conclude that the reference therein is to VGCats! --Gedrean

I cleaned up the formatting on this talk page a little, shower me in praise.--Practitioner of Saucy Arts 17:24, 27 August 2006 (CDT)

It dosen't mean anything!

Dr. Hobos scalple is, to simply put it, another one of Jicks Strange objects in the KoL that we love so much. Its not so much a great item to use through the whole game, but it is great for begginers and Noobs. The syndicate

Considering nearly everything is a reference, it might not be that far out of the way to say this is. Also, sign your comments properly. --Cheeetar 19:35, 23 November (AEST)

Clarifying the X's

The third hit message seems rather confusing. What with all of the X's, two of which are game text, and one of which is a variable. Perhaps some clarifycation in the notes section?--Munkel 17:53, 25 February 2007 (CST)

Hit message

"You make a bix "X" on <it> with your scalpel. X never, ever marks the spot, but in this case, it marks the spot where you did X damage."

Maybe there's something I'm missing, but shouldn't that be "big" instead of "bix?" --Andorin Kato 09:57, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Never mind, it's correct in-game. --Andorin Kato 02:44, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
