Talk:Drowsy Sword

From A KoL Wiki

Possible Improvements?

Imagine what it could do if it were fully awake.

Do you think this means there's a way to improve the sword? --Starwed 03:24, 26 June 2007 (CDT) Probably not. On the other hand, what in the kingdom contains caffeine? --Killerrabbit 09:34, 26 June 2007 (CDT) Well, there's the various colas, for one...the description of a whiskey and cola even mentions a combination of caffeine and alcohol. Mountain Dew/Stream would be caffeinated as well, although probably not the unrefined syrup... --Jimfromtx 02:18, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

There's also the Thermos of Knob Coffee. --Andy00 02:39, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

Don't forget Red Minotaur, that stuff is filled with caffeine!

The sword can't be smithed, cooked, mixed, or pasted, which reduces the probability this sword is "awakened" with caffeine. Does anyone have any other ideas? --Silocrydan 06:06, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Possible References

  • Possibly the sword is a reference to the Singing Sword? That it makes noise (snores) seems like a good reference. Count Macantuna 00:04, 4 July 2007 (CDT)
  • Possibly the sword is a reference to the Lazy Gun, a "quest goal" of the protagonist of Ian Bank's book Against a Dark Background. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lazy_Gun Cuculain 14:02, 29 June 2008 (CDT)
  • Possibly the sword is a reference to Soul Edge, the slumbering, ultra-powerful sword from the popular Soul Calibur video games.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Albino Toad (talkcontribs) on 23:09, 6 October 2011

Palindromes: Notes or References?

Using this item as an example, should notes about palindromes in game text be listed in the notes section (as here), or in the references section (as seems more appropriate to me). I don't see a policy, so I ask the admins and interested parties. --DVhttp://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/skins/monobook/user.gifhttp://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/skins/monobook/file_icon.gifhttp://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/skins/monobook/mail_icon.gifhttp://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/skins/monobook/link_icon.gif 23:07, 13 July 2007 (CDT)

de-leveling

How much does it de-level? --Blazingthunder 09:54, 26 July 2007 (CDT)

I think the standard amount is exactly equal to the damage done by the weapon itself: 10-20% of the weapon's power. --Starwed 10:57, 26 July 2007 (CDT)
If it de-leveled by -11, it would be ridiculous (not even funny) but it would be a palindromic number. --Mozai
Yes, that is the one thing it lacks . . . seems such a waste to me. Eran of Arcadia 08:16, 20 September 2007 (CDT)
