Oh, it has been known for a while now that these occur when you run extra monster level. Take your total extra ML, divide by 300, and that's the chance of seeing one. droprates

i've never ever ever not gotten a tangle, and nobody in /hardcore chimed in to claim this had happened to them, but i didn't think to test with -100% drops til after i was out of squares this run so i'm only 98% sure it's a 100% drop --billybobfred (talk) 00:02, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
