Original Material
Can this effect be removed with the naughty sorceress? I know it can't be removed with the SGEEA, but I was wondering if the sorceress removed it. unfortunately, I already beat the sorceress on all Muscle-based class accounts so I can't check for myself. --CG1:t,c,e 16:25, 8 June 2007 (CDT)
The name of the effect has also been corrected to "Eau de Tortue", removing the improper contraction; I have no idea how to rename an article, so there you go.--Salien 02:53, 25 January 2007 (CST)
- If my memory serves right, you can't rename pages. The accepted action that I see usually taking place is that the information is copied into the new and correct page, and the old page is nominated for and deleted by an Administrator. I have already moved the information, the metadata, and this page into the new pages and nominated the old ones for deletion. --'Ivan 03:07, 25 January 2007 (CST)
- Or you just use the "move" tab, up there by "edit". :-P --JRSiebz (☎|§|‡) 03:55, 25 January 2007 (CST)
- Damn it. --'Ivan 05:53, 25 January 2007 (CST)
References
"Eau D'tortue" Literal translation is "Water Of tortoise" but google thought I wanted "Eau D'morte" which means "water of dead." Just thought it was interesting.--Devdogg 09:27, 17 January 2007 (CST)
- Eau de toilette is a type of fragrence. So it seems like an obvious kinda reference. - JohnDoe244 10:05, 17 January 2007 (CST)
- In French, as far as I know, you would never form the contraction with a word starting with a consonant (how would you pronounce it?). But searching Google for eau d'morte does give results. Some are due to Google's habit of losing punctuation, but some are really spelled that way... I'm confused. Anyway, I'd think eau de toilette is the more likely reference. --Rachelkachel 14:44, 17 January 2007 (CST)
Drop Locations
Could we get some sort of checklist on areas that have been thoroughly checked for new turtles? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mxylptlk (talk • contribs) at 09:56, 18 January 2007 (CST).
- I don't know how throrough you could call twenty turns, but I haven't found any in the Castle in the Sky, Icy Peak, Haunted Bedroom, Haunted Bathroom, Haunted Ballroom, or Haunted Pantry. (If it does matter, I am a Turtle Tamer.) --LegendaryBard 11:12, 18 January 2007 (CST)
- Okay, still in twenty-turn incriments, and I have found no turtles anywhere in Spookyraven manor (exept the conservitory, which has the skeletortise, of course), Little Canadia, the Island, or up the beanstalk. --LegendaryBard 00:22, 19 January 2007 (CST)
- I must be nuts. No turtles anywhere in The Big Mountains. --LegendaryBard 22:36, 19 January 2007 (CST)
- Yup, still nuts. Must be the OCD. No turtles at Fernswarthy's Tower or The Misspelled Cemetary (Post-Cyrpt). --LegendaryBard 14:19, 20 January 2007 (CST)
- Nothing at Thugnderdome either.--RPGMarker35 14:43, 20 January 2007 (CST)
- I don't suffer from OCD, I enjoy it! Nothing at The Bat Hole, South of the Border, The Spooky Forest, Whitey's Grove, The Hidden Temple, or The Inexplicable Door/8-bit Realm (and I was looking forward to taming a koopa). If someone under a Muscle sign would check The Bugbear Pens and The Spooky Gravy Barrow, I'd appreciate it. --LegendaryBard 01:27, 21 January 2007 (CST)
- Some of these were already checked, but... Twenty turns spent in Dire Warrens, Noob Cave, The Haiku Dungeon, The Limerick Dungeon, Sewer, The Roulette Tables, The Poker Room, Lemon Party Slot, The Knob Shaft (without disguise); and ten turns in The Typical Tavern (post-quest), Cobb's Knob Treasury, and sleeping (campground). No turtles, except the helmet turtles from the sewer. :P ...hmm. I wonder if anyone has checked the Bad/Mediocre/Great Trip yet? The Hedge Maze? Palindrome? 'course, then there's The Spectral Pickle Factory - the next time that appears, somebody better remember to check it for turtles... --Andemon 09:52, 22 January 2007 (CST)
- Okay, I found nothing at the Dungeons of Doom, Palindrome, Cobb's Knob Kitchens, Cobb's Knob Treasury, and Cobb's Knob Harem, as well as nothing with another ten turns at the Typical Tavern (post-quest). --LegendaryBard 13:11, 22 January 2007 (CST)
- Checked the Labratory, the Copse of the Deep Fat Friars (post-quest), and all three levels of the Menagerie. Found no turtles. --LegendaryBard 00:33, 23 January 2007 (CST)
- Checked the Barrel full of Barrels, and Drunken Stupor. ...somebody had to do it. No turtles in either. There's still one blank spot on the item list, so there _should_ be another turtle out there somewhere... Has anyone checked The Palindome yet? (El truth turtle...? -_-; ) --Andemon 10:38, 24 January 2007 (CST)
- We still need to check The Spooky Gravy Barrow, The Bugbear Pens, The Road to the White Citadel, The Hedge Maze, and possibly the Spectral Pickle Factory and various astral trips. --LegendaryBard 00:33, 23 January 2007 (CST)
- I checked the The Bugbear Pens (pre- and post- Felonia) and The Spooky Gravy Barrow and no turtles found. --John. 15:52, 29 January 2007 (CST)
Turtles Per Application
Has anyone found more than one turtle per application of the pheromones? --Southwest 13:42, 17 January 2007 (CST)
- So far I have tried eight consecutive runs of 10 adventures in the Haunted Conservatory each with the Eau D'tortue effect on. On each run I got one and only one Skeletortoise. It occured at a random point thoughout the ten adventures each time, from just after the first adventure to just before the tenth. --Klaithe 13:09, 18 January 2007 (CST)
- Not enough attempts to be totally sure yet but it seems that a single application followed by ten consecutive adventures in an area should be enough to determine if there is a turtle adventure there or not. --Klaithe 13:09, 18 January 2007 (CST)
- I used a large number of these on a multi and got one and only one per use. I put this information on the turtle pheromones page. --Crowther 14:16, 18 January 2007 (CST)
- Just had a non-turtle run in the sleezy back alley. I'll try again, but that was weird...all day yesterday I didn't have a problem getting a turtle with every use of the phermones.--Devdogg 18:27, 18 January 2007 (CST)
- sorry, nevermind. I got a turtle the first adventure somewhere else.--Devdogg 18:36, 18 January 2007 (CST)
- I got two turtles during that 10 adventure duration. I don't think it's always just one turtle per use.--Coolguy00001 20:54, 18 January 2007 (CST)
- If you always get exactly one turtle per application, then the ideal way to exploit this (as far as picking up turtles within a run, as opposed to farming turtles by having the NS remove the effect) would be to apply the pheromones, spend 9 adventures somewhere useful (and turtle-free), then go to the location with your turtle of choice and get a turtle adventure-free, and resume adventuring in your useful location. Havn't had a chance to try it yet myself, but this would also be a decent way to test whether or not you're guaranteed one turtle per application.--Salien 15:32, 24 January 2007 (CST)
- Okay, that doesn't work at all. This leads me to believe that which turn (out of the ten) you will get a turtle on is probably a flag set when you use the pheromones. If you happen to spend that turn somewhere that yields a turtle, you get a turtle and the flag is removed. If you spend the turn somewhere turtle-less, you get no turtle and the flag is still removed. So, you can try and spend the first couple turns somewhere turtle-less and then go and try to get a turtle, (I have received a turtle after spending the first turn somewhere turtle-less) but you risk using up your flagged turn there and getting no turtle. So, not likely to be worth risking if you're using the phreomones in the first place.--Salien 02:50, 25 January 2007 (CST)
- Ah, I was wondering why there was a mechanic in place to prevent you from stacking or removing this effect. It seemed rather curious, since that type of oddity usually indicates special circumstances, but I couldn't figure it out. Those limitations make sense now. --Nifty Nobu 16:03, 25 January 2007 (CST)

NS13
Has anyone tried looking for new turtles with NS13? Rithe 15:32, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
- For that matter, has anyone tried going to the NS with this effect on? --Raijinili 00:28, 7 September 2008 (CDT)
BM
I just spent 10 turns at the gnoll with this effect, and did not get a turtle. I got the BM special adventure, though: perhaps it overruled the turtle adv? --Starwed 02:07, 22 September 2007 (CDT)
I am in regular and just applied it twice and spent a total of 20 turns on the cola war battlefield, and didn't get a turtle either time. Eran of Arcadia 10:56, 7 November 2007 (CST)
- Did you have a uniform, If I remember correctly you need a uniform to get the battlefield turtle. --Chunky_boo 12:58, 7 November 2007 (CST)
