Talk:Engulfed!

From A KoL Wiki

My clan just did a tickle-only dive and we are up to 7 tickles (and 7 Slime-covered loots) now. We are working on 8 and 9 now. --Mizem 00:56, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

  • We have now completed 11 tickles and have had 11 rusty items stolen during combat (using spices greatly seeps this up). One clannie died after having his rusty shovel stolen and it seems to be lost forever now. But we have successfully slime-covered 10 items in one dive now. Oh, and yes while you can only tickle once per dive, you can "slime-cover" multiple items per dive and thus steal someone else's tickle. --Mizem 02:46, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
    • Yeah, I don't think that there is a tickle limit. How many tickles would be enough to conclude that? Alternately, we could ask Jick. --Brion thenotgiant 18:24, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

The first time I got Engulfed! I tickled the uvula. This showed up in the clan dungeon logs as a turn spent.

Whenever I've been in there since I got the "remembers you from last time" message.

Maybe it's only the first tickling or squeezing that actually does anything?

Someone should try squeezing the gall bladder on their first encounter, to see if it gives a different message. Wrongfellow 12:42, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

You grab the gall bladder and give it a mighty squeeze, sending bile streaming out through the ducts and into the mass of Slime. It begins to quiver with something that resembles rage, and you decide that this would be a pretty good time to make your exit. You squirm out of the Slime and back up into the basement. --Ithanox 12:55, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Theory (Untestable 'til Rollover): Slime will only remember a given player for one day, then each player can get something out of Engulfed again. --FoodSeeker 13:44, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Nope, it remembered me the day after. I'm thinking it's one squeeze/tickle per instance. --Jimfromtx 06:22, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

When I squeezed the Gall Bladder, the slime from Covered in Slime, seems to have gotten more powerful. Before squeezing I recieved, 9, 58, 174 damage for the first three turns afterwards, now I pass over 9 and start at 58. --Chopstix 16:27, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

I noticed when I squeezed the Gall Bladder, the covered in slime was now in effect for 10 turns, instead of the 11 it was in effect for me before. Does the damage from this effect depend on how many turns you have left? -- Abbywill 16:55, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Yes, the fewer turns you have left of the effect, the more it hurts. --FoodSeeker 19:10, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
I can confirm that I could only tickle OR squeeze once per instance. --Hippoking 15:10, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

" Upon defeating the slime, you will receive the slime-covered version of that item. " No need for duplicate info.--Toffile 02:14, 4 August 2012 (CEST)

ML

The hypothesis on the main The Slime Tube discussion seems to be that the uvula lowers ML and the gall bladder raises it. Dunno to what extent that's been tested. --FoodSeeker 13:46, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

The theory that gall bladder raises ML is somewhat supported. Adventuring at +240ML with 5 gall bladder squeezes and no uvula tickles results in slime mouth/maw/beaks, which are supposedly the >+300ML encounters. Loucks 18:47 31 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Current thinking seems to put maws at 250+, so this gets a little chancier. --FoodSeeker 19:09, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Slime-covered items

  • Is there a trick to getting the "special combat message" to convert a rusty item into a slime-covered one? Do you have to get hit by the monster (i.e., do you have to reduce Moxie if you are high-level)? Do you have to hit the monster with your weapon? -Greycat 13:35, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
    • When I got mine, and what I've heard from others, we were just spicing the slimes for like 25+ rounds, and got the special message before they were defeated. I believe one of the items' talk page has the specific message, but alas I can't remember if it actually did any damage or just took my item (a speargun in my case). Incidentally, I think Eleron took your tickle's worth in the TBH instance; he got two from it. --Flargen 13:38, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
      • With lots of +ML? With no +ML? With lots of +item? With low moxie? With high moxie? How many hundreds of turns of this should I endure before I conclude that it's not just the RNG fucking me, but something I'm missing? -Greycat 14:14, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
        • Someone else may have gotten your sliming. It's not tuned to the tickler. That's one possible source of getting screwed. Most of us have gotten it really quickly after the tickling. I was running low/no ML, without any stat buffs/debuffs (other than buffing spray). It should be possible to still get the sliming if one or more squeezings have occurred. --Flargen 14:25, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
          • Hmm, on greycat, in an instance where there were still uvula-tickles left, I was able to tickle the uvula, and then convert a shovel on the very next combat. (With 262 moxie at +76 ML. I didn't see the message, but I'm using WISAh to spam the combat items, so I don't know whether it was a hit or not.) So maybe someone else in the other clan did grab lightgreycat's opportunity. -Greycat 15:59, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
  • Wait, wait, wait... is it possible that you can only get the slime-covered items if someone else tickles the uvula? That might explain why lightgreycat can't get one, and why darkgreycat wasn't able to get one in TBH but someone else did. -Greycat 15:00, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
    • Nope. Smacky got his before anyone else had even entered the instance. --Flargen 15:07, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
I've slime covered my items both with my tickle, and with someone else's (in the same instance)--Hippoking 15:09, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps one can only trigger the uvula to get a slime-covered item once until another player in the clan does the same. I'm not sure of the exact number, but after I got my slimy speargun, I've gotten the "it remembers you" message at LEAST the next five times and closer to ten. Can somebody doing a two-person tube run confirm this -- i.e., trade off triggering the uvula and getting the slimy item? It makes sense that the slime would "remember" the person who triggered the first instance of the adventure before the slimy-item-getting fight occurred, so maybe another clan member should try to trigger it the next time around? --Garzick 20:15, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

  • I can confirm that it remembers you after you tickle, get an item, and then another clan member tickles and gets an item when only 2 people are running the dungeon.--Snufstyle420 00:31, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
  • i'm doing this on my own with +0ML. not getting the sliming. one-hitting the slimes every time, though. do you have to get hit and the item stolen? --Evilkolbot 21:09, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
    • the answer to this is no since i now have a spanky new slime helmet, which i can't wear. boo! --Evilkolbot 21:27, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

I have not tickled at all (neither has any clan-mate according to the log) and I am still presenting with the text "You reach for the uvula, but before you can tickle it, it recoils from you and disappears into the mass of Slime. Looks like the Slime still remembers you from last time."

Any reason why this is happening? I can't make any slimed items because of this... --Sir Spanky 13:53, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

It looks like you can't get a slime covered item when killing the slime with an autoattack. No item after like 200 turns of killing with autoattack. Then the item dropped in the first combat that took longer than 1 round. Can anyone confirm this? --scheijan 12:56, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

  • I was wondering the same thing. Done about 10combats with autoattacks, now I am spicing to see if it helps. No item yet. --Plater (t|c) 15:59, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

~160 turns with +0 ML, with no other user to get a slime item, got nothing. I got a jump (almost?) every time and killed with one hit (though I tried one time to get hit by slime, but it didn't produce an item too). Other two items were acquired with +200-300 ML in one (or few) turns after equipping a rusty one. -- wRAR 19:04, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

  • They have to be able to attack you for them to take a rusty item. So, you know, stop one-shotting them. Use spices for a bit or something. --Flargen 19:39, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

lost an item but didn't gain one

  • do i have to get hit twice in the same combat?
  • do i have actively to win the combat to get the item?
  • if i lose an item but don't gain one is that uinstance now useless or can i get my item later? --Evilkolbot 00:04, 3 August 2012 (CEST)
    • Getting the message in combat once is enough, but it may take the slime several rounds of combat before he grabs the rusty item. (I use spices while I wait for that.)
    • That's right: If you don't beat up the slime after he took your rusty equipment, you don't get the slime-covered version of it (and loose the rusty one as well).
    • Never happened to me so far, but there are two things you could do: You can equip another rusty item and check if the next slime would take it. If it doesn't and your clans uvula hasn't been tickled 5 times already for this slime tube, you could ask someone to tickle it for you. If you can't find someone who's still sober enough to do so, last time I entered /trade people sold tickling for meat.
    • Thank you for giving me the opportunity to write all that weird stuff... :D If you haven't found a tickler by now, I will gladly tickle on your behalf tonight. --Yatsufusa 04:09, 3 August 2012 (CEST)

smashing

for the rusty gear turned slimy, smashing yields

You acquire 3 twinkly wads --Yueli7 21:01, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Hobopolis-style trickery

In Hobopolis, one trick to hold multiple 'Big Shows' simultaneously is to have multiple people reach the tent entrance until all band members of multiple shows arrive, and then have different big bands go in order. Is that trick possible here? Can multiple people get Engulfed then squeeze the gall bladder simultaneously? Can more than 5 people squeeze the bladder this way? --Parse 19:56, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

  • No. Without going into technical details of Atomic Variables: The way the variables work for something like this will not allow that sort of behavior to happen. --MindlessGames 20:49, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
  • I should clarify: Multiple people can get the adventure and squeeze "at the same time," However, this will not allow for more than 5 squeezes to occur. --MindlessGames 20:55, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
    • It's not really anything to do with "technical details of atomic variables", since if it was then neither of the Hobopolis adventures that can be stacked would work that way. Rather, it won't work here because, in Hobopolis, you get the adventure when the count is checked, then use it when you're all ready, but in the Slime Tube you get the adventure all the time, and the count is only checked when you use the adventure. So you can't be waiting 'behind' the check to increase the count as you do in Hobopolis - the check and the increment happen at the same time here. --RavenBlack 15:37, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

Uvula Text

Hi. I got the Engulfed! adventure once, and left without doing anything... upon a second attempt, I tried to tickle the Uvula and got the text: "You reach for the uvula, but before you can tickle it, it withdraws into the Slime and out of reach. Ah well." This doesn't appear in the wiki (that I've found) and I'm not sure what triggered it... any ideas? --Almightysapling 05:36, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Squeezing adding ML and HP

Ok. So you clearly didn't read what I wrote, or you misread it. Whatever. I said that squeezing adds 30 HP, not 20. I agree that it adds 20 ML. Several tests back me up. with 1 squeeze, it took 230 damage on average to kill them. With 4 squeezes, it took 320 damage on average to kill them. This is with zero additional outside ML. On my main at level 3, I did 352 damage to a Slime at only +10 other ML (with 5 squeezes) and did not kill the thing. --MindlessGames 12:11, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

  • Ah, I misread/error-corrected-over that: the page doesn't specifically mention HP, and the relation is normally +ML*0.8=+HP, so ML made much more sense as a context for "instead of just 20". So for slime +HP=+ML(+10)? --Fig bucket 12:36, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Probably worth noting on the wiki page that being defeated or cleeshing (just tested, unfortunately) destroys your item and the potential slime-covered item you woulda had. good to know... -Davydd

Tickle Limit spaded

I think i've spaded the tickle limit and i'm putting my results in the page. Since my wiki skillz are really bad, anyone with better ones should feel free to put anything in a prettier way.
the limit is:
the uvula can be tickled up to 5 times if nobody tries to slime-cover an item. then you'll receive the "You reach for the uvula, but before you can tickle it, it withdraws into the Slime and out of reach. Ah well." message.
if anyone have tried to slime a rusty item the uvula can be tickled again, with the same 5-items-to-be-slime-covered limit. --Wiseworm 00:38, 12 September 2011 (CEST)
