Talk:Eye of newt

does this and/or the other items from amphibians do anything?--A and m 16:04, 22 February 2006 (Central Standard Time)

As i was looking a this link : http://trope-tank.mit.edu/games_by_the_book/ I tryed the first game available, "Avon", a 1982 text game. The first thing i did was typing "north" (just like in the quest of the Strange Leaflet, you know?) and then i saw that :

"> north You are on a wild heath. So foul and fair a day you have not seen. A path leads off to the south, there is a forest path to the northwest, and a chilly wind blows down a path to the northeast.

What are these so wither'd and wild in their attire? They should be women but their beards forbid thee to interpret that they are so. The witches are prepared to give you one of the following objects: An eye of newt. A toe of frog. A wool of bat. A tongue of dog. Which object will you take?"

Eye of Newt is obtained with Cleesh wich is obtained with the strange leaflet quest, which is a text game. I'm pretty sure this is a tribute to this old game "Avon".--Vighugr 23:39, 17 September 2012 (CEST)

No. If you'd bothered to google those words you'd have found the truth. Your source is merely quoting Shakespere, "Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat, and tongue of dog, Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting, Lizard's leg, and howlet's wing,-- For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble." from Macbeth (IV, i, 14-15). --Bale 12:19, 18 September 2012 (CEST)
