Talk:Fernswarthy's letter

From A KoL Wiki
  • TROPHY! it says trophy! yay! --Evilkolbot 06:57, 24 January 2007 (CST)
  • If it really is a clue to a new trophy - it seems to indicate a connection to the haunted ballroom (dancing) - a food/booze trophy or maybe # of dance cards used? Jick once mentioned that there is an unimplemented trophy associated w/ Spookyraven, but there is a "counter" setup so that a player won't have to start from scratch when the trophy gets implemented. --Grimdel 12:57, 24 January 2007 (PST)
  • This item may be combineable (It's listed), I thought that maybe there is some hidden text on it. So far I tried (guano) coffee, some fruits(lemon), but nothing so far. Is there a script to do such stuff automatically? Some secret texts become visible when heating the paper or holding it against the light, any thoughts - or even successes ? --Floh 08:06, 25 January 2007 (CST)
    • ALL items are listed on the Combine page, so this tells us nothing. --Quietust (t|c) 08:33, 25 January 2007 (CST)
  • I'm not sure if it is a reference to anything hidden. If anything it's more a joke on how absent-minded he was.--Toffile 08:15, 25 January 2007 (CST)
    • I agree. He goes from one point to another, and they're all totally unrelated. He starts the note with "Dear Hooligans," and ends with "Love, Ferny?" And the bottom of the letter looks like a grocery list. It could be a reference to a trophy, but until one is found... looks like a joke. --Azn dr4g0n 14:52, 3 February 2007 (CST)
  • Well, I tried taking a bunch of Distant Land vacations (about 20?) and no mangos have shown up yet. Good thing I've got that Big Boat trophy to aim for ;). No luck finding a way to turn the dough into bread either, which was another thought I had.--Stellaria 21:34, 25 January 2007 (CST)
    • The bread, though, could refrence elfin shortbread, from the Palindrome (the Elf Farm Raffle prize). Mangos, however, don't exist to my knowledge (or the wiki's knowledge) -Singular Quartet 22:20, 25 January 2007 (CST)
  • Jick said a lot of this quest hasn't been rolled out yet, and the book isn't the end of it. My guess is that this will come into play later. Like, next Tuesday, maybe. --Missingno 12:23, 26 January 2007 (CST)

mangoes - Lesser Fruit Golem
coffee - thermos full of Knob chicory
bread - Bread Golem
cigarettes - Miniature carton of clove cigarettes
pudding - black pudding
liniment - as nog lorp said, probably a Doc item

If you find anymore connections feel free to edit. I have no idea what the hell liniment is. --Whap 15:02, 26 January 2007 (CST)

  • Have so done - couple new NS13 items seem pretty likely to be the ones referred to. --Neminem 12:42, 27 June 2007 (CDT)
  • Liniment [wikipedia] --JRSiebz (|§|) 15:57, 26 January 2007 (CST)
    • sounds like Doc Galaktik's Ailment Ointment to me --Nog lorp 20:34, 31 January 2007 (CST)
  • Hmmm. How is pudding related to the Chowder Golem? Anyway, cigarettes, of a sort, exist in the game. --Nea 11:24, 8 February 2007 (CST)

Bengal Balm is a liniment, because liniment is also referred to as Balm. So that's gonna be that...Bread would be stale bread from the haunted kitchen. Maybe cigarettes is referring to something else, like a lighter or something....--Coolness 03:51, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
