Do these get displayed at the Crackpot Mystic's Shed? --Yatsufusa 17:56, 5 January 2013 (CET)

I completed the whole set of crackpot mystic psychos levels and got none of these. Wah. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 19:10, 5 January 2013 (CET)

  • I think you need to pass certain resistance and attribute tests in order to get them. ~Erich t/c 19:27, 5 January 2013 (CET)
    • Me and club passed all the tests. However all the messages I got seemed to suggest I could have done a better job of it? You probably have to pass the tests perfectly or at least better than the bare minimum. Discordance 20:00, 5 January 2013 (CET)
      • Reading some of the pages about the tests that give the pixels, it seems you need to be a lot better than bare minimum. IMJack says he had 1121 HP for Slings and Arrows, whereas I was probably in the 700 range. I'm thinking that flickering pixels are probably involved in the proper use for pixel power cells. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 21:00, 5 January 2013 (CET)
        • Right now I only know how to get 3 of them. You need to get over 30 levels of elemental resistance for the heat and spooky tests. You need to get a ton of elemental damage to beat the tears test. Doing this doesn't actually clear the test, it just gives you the pixel. And no, they don't show up in the Mystic's shed.--Toffile 21:12, 5 January 2013 (CET)
          • Erm, you guys realize that we've figured out the proper use for pixel power cells, right? They're for the boss weapon's unique combat skills. --Cannonfire40 21:16, 5 January 2013 (CET)
            • (a) No, I didn't. It's not on the pixel power cell page either. (b) There still could be more than one use for a pixel power cell.--Club (#66669) (Talk) 21:30, 5 January 2013 (CET)

I would bet a few million meat that 11 of these forge into a special pixel sword (probably a glowing master sword reference at that). Also with recent finds of certain other swords it shaping up to a legendary sword per jar. Where does it lead! Discordance 01:41, 6 January 2013 (CET)

Perhaps you need to visit the crackpot mystic himself to craft the sword? --The ErosionSeeker 22:47, 7 January 2013 (CET)

  • As the page notes already they don't show up on his crafting list. The usage messages indicates you just need to be multi using more of them. Noone has the sword yet because getting all 8 pixels is hard enough, and on top of that this area seems to reset on ascension. So getting the likely 11 pixels requires someone equipped with a lot of high-end gear and an second ascension. Discordance 23:42, 7 January 2013 (CET)

Once per account?

Given that there are 8 tests for a flickering pixel and that 8 make a Byte, I believe that you can only obtain one pixel from each test per account. No resetting on ascension, no getting 2 Bytes, no getting even an extra flickering pixel for the DC.

Evidence: I obtained 4 flickering pixels on my first Crackpot Mystic Jar run. I ascended, then went on a second run with the hope of getting all 8 pixels. In the first run, I passed the Pipes test in Anger Man's level with 30 hot resistance and got a flickering pixel. The second time, I had 28 hot resistance, but no option appeared for the pixel. Same thing happened with the spooky resistance test in Fear Man's level.

In the end, with my 8 total pixels, I made the Byte. The only thing left to test is whether that has any effect (I doubt it). So I'll do another run in my next ascension (I need the factoids anyway). --HotCha0 22:48, 12 January 2013 (CET)

  • All the swords are once only it seems, so I wouldn't be surprised if the same was true for the pixels. Discordance 01:02, 13 January 2013 (CET)
    • I can confirm you cannot get the same flickering pixel twice in the same non-combat; even after ascension. --Andyzero 05:07, 13 January 2013 (CET)
