Talk:Generic duck

From A KoL Wiki

The Monster Level listed for the generic duck (on McMillicancuddy's Barn) is much, much higher than in reality.

I have a current moxie of 184 (base 139) and am fighting the ducks without being hit. How can the monster level be ~210?--Burgie12 14:51, 4 July 2007 (CDT)

At Moxie of 174, I was being hit regularly, but at 175, only critically.--Top1214 18:40, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

The ML is at least 170, 168 is too low. Adventuring here with 179 Moxie (base 130), no +ML, and being hit non-critically ("It buffets you with its wings..."). Unless the ML for generic ducks is actually variable? NinjaChris 22:50, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Possible reference?

For the critical attack text, I have seen a Far Side comic with almost exactly the same content.

Same here. I'm adding it; its too similar to be a coincidence (unless Jick is channeling Gary Larson... weird). Alphacow 14:06, 14 August 2007 (CDT)

Attack text

  • Uh, why is the Critical attack text also in one of the regular hit texts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by RegalStar (talkcontribs) on 00:11, 28 October 2007

Flat Feet reference

My dad has told a joke about ducks with flat feet for decades (and I'm pretty sure he didn't invent it). Even if the reference is also to the song, the connection to ducks may be in the joke:

Q. Why do elephants have flat feet? A. For stomping out forest fires. Q. Why do hippopotamuses have flat feet? A. For stomping out forest fires. Q. Why do ducks have flat feet? A. For stomping out forest fires. Q. Why do rhinoceroses have flat feet? A. For stomping out flaming ducks.

There's usually an attempt to get the audience playing along, so the last line usually goes like "Why do rhinoceroses have flat feet?" "For stomping out forest fires." "No! For stomping out flaming ducks." But that's the gist of it. Coincidence here is possible but I think, given the nature of this game, unlikely. Kilyle 23:59, 1 February 2012 (CET)
