Talk:Going Postal

From A KoL Wiki

Your quest log has completely different descriptions during each stage of this extremely agnnoying quest. Sadly I didn't save any of them, but they are amusing and I guess took the dev team some time to compile. --Blastphemist 12:21, 11 October 2007 (CDT)

Did this just appear today? --Silophant 18:45, 10 October 2007 (CDT)

Maaaaaybee. As in, Oct 10 07 update. Yes. Or Maaaaaybe. --DaemonStryker 19:29, 10 October 2007 (CDT)

what is the spoiler policy anyways....i am now about 4 or 5 steps into the puzzle and wondering if i should go and complete this...--Fool 19:55, 10 October 2007 (CDT) Edit: seems somebody beat me to the post..... now the question is: can one complete this quest without burning down the hippie camp?--Fool 20:03, 10 October 2007 (CDT)

include the hippy camp not just bombed back to the stone age User:bob221

I think you have to do the level 7 quest before you can get talk to Rick, the Slick Lihc. Or I'm doing something wrong. Ershatz 22:32, 10 October 2007 (CDT)

What do you do if the War is going on? Wearing no uniform, the War Hippy uniform, or the regular Hippy outfit to the hippy camp doesn't seem to do the trick. --DuckAndCower 23:13, 10 October 2007 (CDT)

  • You can't get the adventure. The only way to progress is to finish the quest. --TechSmurf 23:17, 10 October 2007 (CDT)

While I got the quest-related adventures first time in almost every area, it was interrupted once by a semi-rare (specifically from the deep fat friar's gate.) So this quest appears to not interfere with those. --Sparksol 21:03, 11 October 2007 (CDT)

From the announcement

October 10
For those of you with access to the Gnomish Gnomads' Camp, there's a groovy (and not at all annoying) new quest to do.

yeah right! --jeremypv 00:34, 11 October 2007 (CDT)

I'm no wiki-wizard, but every page related to this quest looks like needs A LOT of work. Once I start the quest I'll try to gather any new info I can, especially regarding the hyperspatial demodulizer (or whatever) spading.--Knobula 00:54, 11 October 2007 (CDT)

  • All the adventures are done, but most of the trade items are still needed, as well as the quest log updates-- it probably changes with every adventure. --TechSmurf 01:11, 11 October 2007 (CDT)
    • Should all be done now. --Baltar 01:52, 11 October 2007 (CDT)

Additional Reference?

I agree on the red paperclip reference, but could this also be a reference to the Trade mini-quests from the Zelda series, starting with Link's Awakening? --Shoptroll 08:00, 11 October 2007 (CDT)

Going Postal is a book by Terry Pratchett. I don't know how to properly embed a link, so I'll let someone else put it on the page.--Zolar the czakl 14:01, 11 October 2007 (CDT)

  • Going Postal is a common term. In what other way would the quest refer to a novel?? --Kari 03:01, 12 October 2007 (CDT)
  • Actually, perhaps Terry Pratchett was referring to this quest. Because Going Postal was published recently, relatively speaking, and I estimate that the quest existed before him. Not sure though, someone check? So perhaps he's a secret kol player? Or like you said, it could just be common term. --user:Tangoing Flamingoes

the red paperclip is a refence to that canidan guy who traded a red paperclip for a house user:bob221 --Bob221 15:20, 11 October 2007 (CDT)

  • Did anyone else notice that the recording artist in the One Red Paperclip trading chain is Jody Marie Gnant? Part of me wonders if that figured into the placement of this quest.--Sleecinnastak 16:47, 12 October 2007 (CDT)

Should we note the horrible, horrible pun that is "Gnome" Chomsky? --JoetheRat 13:20, 26 October 2007 (CDT)

  • What pun would that be? --CheezyBob 14:19, 26 October 2007 (CDT)

Might be worth noting this: the Hoom-hah demon name adventure overrode this quest adventure in the Spooky Forest.--Kidmissile 14:56, 27 February 2008 (CST)

Also worth noting that this quest sequence was over-ridden by the Rock Monster (Clod Hopper) and the Penultimate shirt-choice adventure. Blastphemist 21:00, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
