Talk:Hacked Items

From A KoL Wiki

Should stunt nuts be in the "Items never released" section? --Emtu 15:29, 23 January 2007 (CST)

  • They were never really a "hacked item" though. If anything, they should be on the Rare Items page under Items that have been completely removed from the game. They were just accidentally marked as public and will almost certainly be released in the future. --TheDotGamer 19:17, 23 January 2007 (CST)
    • They seem to be more of a leaked item. Even the jewelery stuff wasn't hacked, well if password guessing is hacking, then i suppose guessing the path of the unimplemented store would be too, but I consider these more of leaked items. Unless someone exploited a vulnerability in the webserver or in php itself or exploited an unhandled condition in the kol code via something like a sql injection or an item creation/duplication bug, I doesn't seem like hacking to me. stunt nuts is another "oops, you guys shouldn't have seen that yet" item, which there have been a few of ;-). I don't think I even knew that this page existed, since most stuff s covered on Rare Items I *think*. --JRSiebz (|§|) 20:35, 23 January 2007 (CST)
      • Every hacking technique takes advantage of a "oops, I didn't do that right". IOne could, for instance, bruteforce all possible item description ids (it'd just take a couple years) :P So the distinction is gray indeed.--Dehstil (t|c) 20:41, 23 January 2007 (CST)
