Talk:Hagnk's Bricks

From A KoL Wiki

The data is based upon viewing over 400K bricks. I removed most dupes, but there are still some in there. I know some bricks that were donated are still not showing up. This is my first contribution to the Wiki. Please feel free to reformat the page as appropriate. --Mundania 00:28, 6 November 2007 (CST)

  • hmm. while admirable in concept, a 400k page probably isn't the right way to go about this. because the page is too big, i'm deleting the content for now. take this to discussion#Hagnk's Bricks, we'll see if we can reach a consensus. --Evilkolbot 06:22, 6 November 2007 (CST)

Lu Tze donated over a thousand bricks, didn't he? And I'm seeing... 45 of his bricks in the list. I guess there could be a lot of duplicates? I'd be interested in seeing some sort of evidence that this list is comprehensive. For example, of the top ten donators, how many of each of their bricks did you see (before duplicate removal)? --PlatypusNinja 16:51, 6 November 2007 (CST)

  • Oh, wait. Viewed over 400K bricks, found 10K unique ones? Yeah, I'd say that's comprehensive. I'm still curious about how many of each contributor's bricks you saw -- it could give us an estimate of what fraction of the bricks are available for viewing. --PlatypusNinja 17:46, 6 November 2007 (CST)
    • It's kinda hard for me to summarize by contributor based upon the way I collected the data, but I've take a stab at it by looking through about half (200K) of the bricks I collected. Looking at several random bricks within this group, I found that each brick was repeated 15-25 times. Most interesting is that the breakdown of the top contributors according to the plaque in the museum is about the same, as follows. I take that to mean that the database hasn't been randomly populated so far (which would result in a lot more of D L's 11K bricks showing up), but rather selectively populated with a tendency to try to include more players versus all the bricks from a given player--Mundania 22:09, 6 November 2007 (CST)
      • DL - 228
      • SPNirology - 172
      • Wiggin - 161
      • (All out of 200K total)
        • It might also indicate that they're throwing out duplicate bricks. Dunno. Anyway, thanks for the info! --PlatypusNinja 23:09, 6 November 2007 (CST)
