Talk:Hammering the Armory
According to Jick's forum post, this adventure has been changed to a choice adventure. Can anyone find out what it looks like now? --Drab Emordnilap 18:51, 13 June 2007 (CDT)
Yeah, just got it...
You fight your way through the countless annoying random encounters and various androgynous heroes on the Airship and finally find yourself at the Armory. The crusty guy behind the counter says something about you not having enough 'gold' to shop there, whatever 'gold' is. So you cold-cock him and have a look at the goods. Then you check out the stuff for sale at the Armory.
It looks like there's some interesting stuff back there, but at the same time, you're really busy, and have tons of other very important things to do on the Airship right now. Maybe it's not a good idea to waste a bunch of your valuable time looking for new equipment right now.
(two choices in buttons:)
Dig through the stuff
Blow this popsicle stand
(When selecting Dig through the stuff:)
You find a breastplate that looks to be in decent condition, and you're tired of having breasts on paper napkins, so you hork it and continue on your adventures.
You acquire an item: bronze breastplate --Terion 19:34, 13 June 2007 (CDT)
- Okay, just needs the second choice text and maybe some cleaning up, now. --Drab Emordnilap 12:37, 14 June 2007 (CDT)
I'm convinced that this adventure is far less likely than the penultimate chest. I just spent 60 turns on the airship (after getting my immateria/sock) with +10% noncombat, and got 16 chests and no breastplate adventure (I have torso awaregness). Perhaps this should be reflected in the Airship adventure page?--Pieces 03:59, 15 June 2007 (CDT)
- I, too, got quite a few chests before a breastplate. In an unrelated note, anyone got a reference for "having your breasts on paper napkins"?
- I think it's just a pun on the word breastplate, as in, a plate to put them on. --Jimfromtx 00:06, 7 August 2007 (CDT)
Does the adventure require Torso Awaregness to appear? --CG1:t,c,e 17:56, 15 June 2007 (CDT)
Not really a noncombat?
I just received this adventure with +20% combat in place. Perhaps it is now no longer a real noncombat?
- Well, right before this adventure was added, there was a 20% chance of noncombat. Methinks the addition of this one put the percentage of noncombats slightly over 20, making it possible. Makes sense, amirite? --Jimfromtx 00:06, 7 August 2007 (CDT)
I just got this adventure on my first click in the Airship, before the introduction. Which I got on the second click. If I'm understanding how this works, that means these are both superlikelies, with a huge rejection rate on the Hammering one. --Greycat (talk) 15:44, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- [11:59] Mister Edge: Huh. I just got the "get the bronze breastplate" adventure BEFORE the "welcome to the Airship" adventure.
- [11:59] unnAmED004: Good to know.
- [12:00] Mister Edge: I didn't know that was possible, is the thing.
- [12:00] Damian Domino Davis: nor me
- [12:01] Damian Domino Davis: this implies Hammering the Armory is a superlikely with, what, pretty high rejection?
- [12:04] Damian Domino Davis: oh hey, a conversation eerily similar to this one, from 15:44, 24 November 2013

Semi-rare?
Is this a semi-rare adventure? My only evidence is this: The wiki page for the Goin' Postal quest states that you will always get the proper adventure the first time you adventure in an area, unless it is interrupted by a superlikely or semi-rare adventure. While I was working on the quest, I clicked on the airship, and I got this adventure. Stannius 11:43, 28 April 2008 (CDT)
- as far as anyone knows, this is just a regular non-combat. if you want to prove otherwise, it's not that hard. eat some fortune cookies, then visit the airship. if you get the adventure before the your counter reaches zero or if you don't get the adventure when it does, then it's definitely not semi-rare. --Evilkolbot 11:52, 28 April 2008 (CDT)
Good idea. I ate a couple o' cookies and adventured in this area for a while. I did not encounter the breastplate seller when the counter expired, nor for a few adventures before or after (just in case I had miscounted or something.) I do wonder if this adventure has been made once-per-ascension though, since I spent 200+ adventures in the area and didn't see it. I will continue my investigation.Stannius 10:44, 2 May 2008 (CDT)
I think it only shows up if you don't have a breastplate in your inventory. I don't have any turns to test that now, though. --Friederike 16:52, 2 May 2008 (CDT)
- So I got one, autosold it, and got the adventure again 20 turns later. Definitely not once per ascension. --Friederike 07:38, 8 May 2008 (CDT)
- I just got this adventure, and my Semi-rare counter had NOT expired. This definitely is not a semi-rare, but it sure as heck doesn't happen often (took me about 60 adventures). -- Alphacow 14:02, 16 May 2008 (CDT)
