Talk:Homeopathic healing powder
The article says this doesn't work with Oyster Eggs or Canned Air, but how about the following: Not-A-Pipe, Guy Made of Bee Pollen, Enchanted Leopard-Print Barbell? --Wildfire393 19:30, 21 October 2007 (CDT)
- Does NOT change Not-A-Pipe gains, but using Not-A-Pipe removes the effect. StephenMcTowelie 05:13, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
Does this work for the ultimate wad? --Purple shrimp 01:23, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- penn and teller? i'd say "homeopathic healing powder" was a pre-existing term, but what do i know? --Evilkolbot 13:32, 2 June 2006 (CDT)
- It's straight from the book I mentioned (which my father owns) - the book comes with some amusing labels to put on stuff: "Contains carageenan, a peat-moss derivative", "Contains all natural ricin" (deadly poison), "Contains ethylene glycol" (antifreeze), and "Homeopathic Holistic Healing Powder". The trick is to pretend to burn your finger (press the back end of a key against your finger to create a "blister", then appear to touch something really hot), then take out your "Homeopathic Holistic Healing Powder" and rub it against the "burn" (causing it to disappear), and when they are impressed, you give them some of it, tricking them into rubbing salt into their wounds. The name alone may have been a coincidence, but the stated resemblance to crushed rock salt confirms it as definitely being Penn and Teller material. --Quietust 13:43, 2 June 2006 (CDT)
- where's the holistic, then? --Evilkolbot 13:55, 2 June 2006 (CDT)
- The actual label included with the book said "holistic", though I'm not sure if the section of the book describing the joke did. I'll have to check later. --Quietust 14:08, 2 June 2006 (CDT)
- The book itself calls it "homeopathic, holistic, Eastern healing powder", but it's the same idea. A quote - "Now you've pushed them into madness, taken their money, and gotten them to rub salt into their wounds--literally. BTW--make sure to tell them it cures herpes. We are the lowest of low." --Quietust 19:18, 2 June 2006 (CDT)

- Confirmed on the 6/8/06 Jick Show to be a Penn and Teller reference. --Quietust 23:26, 11 June 2006 (CDT)

Function
All this is well and good, but what does it actually do?--Stik guy 16:19, 3 June 2006 (CDT)
- According to a forum post here, it increases the effectiveness of spleen items.--Southwest 16:36, 3 June 2006 (CDT)
I did some testing.. i used moxie weeds and magicalness-in-a can, the lowest tier of spleen items. I also used two oyster eggs. these are the results i got:
- Took 1 healing powder: moxie weed, 9 chutzpah. 3 moxie weeds after: 2,2,1
- took 1 healing powder: moxie weed: 14 chutzpah. another moxie weed: 5. another moxie weed: 2
- Used a Puce Paisley Oyster Egg: 12 musclebound, 13 chutzpah
- Took 1 healing powder: same oyster egg: 12 musclebound, 12 cheek
- took 2 healing powders: moxie weed: 11, moxie weed: 9, magicalness in a can: 9, magicalness in a can: 1.
--Deranged Cat 17:42, 3 June 2006 (CDT)
This looks to me like fairly conclusive evidence. I'll add a note about the powder's effect to the page-- if further testing proves contrary, then, of course, feel free to change it (since that's what a Wiki's all about). --Southwest 19:16, 3 June 2006 (CDT)
I'm going to do more testing, but im limited by 15 a day :P. It looks however, that oyster eggs are unaffected by this. only regular spleen items (i dont even know if i should try canned air) --Deranged Cat 03:34, 4 June 2006 (CDT)
myst day, magicalness-in-a-can, You gain 14 Enchantedness.--Luos 19:45, 5 June 2006 (CDT)
After using a single powder: 15 moxie weeds (multi-use), 147 Cheek. So it must affect all of the items if you do a "use multiple", instead of just one. —Dentarthurdent(T,C) 21:43, 5 June 2006 (CDT)
Just what IS a "Standard spleen-hitting item", anyway? And why isn't there a "Spleen-hitting" category? --Hellion 14:19, 6 June 2006 (CDT)
Here's another one of my contributions :D. took 1 powder, then used a Breathetastic. 69, 67, 63. It doesn't seem to effect Breathetastics either. --Deranged Cat 16:39, 6 June 2006 (CDT)
Further testing - using the poweder, on a moxie day and using 15 Suntan lotions of Moxiousness i gained 407 Moxie. I think this almsot confims the doubling of spleen stat boosters. Looks like we got a winner for a HCO run--Kinnison 08:22, 17 June 2006 (CDT)
It also looks like Bottles of Used Blood are exempt. I got 9 bottles, snarfed a bag of Powder and only got 100-115 of the two stats when I drank the blood. On a stat day you can expect about 25 stat per bottle or more. But then I chewed three Moxie Weeds for 35 stats, compared to the usual 7 or so. Slavedriver 12:02, 18 June 2006 (CDT)
If there was any doubt (and there was to me) This does not affect Gourd potion. Today is my stat day (Myst) and one gourd potion without the powder gave me 51 stats, after taking the powder, two potions gave me 93. --Davidgro 01:14, 21 June 2006 (CDT)
It does not double the effectiveness of spleen items. I've been using the powder every day in my last few HCoxy runs, together with 20 of the Market Demon's spleen items. The stats I've got (on non-stat days) range from 162-212, however the 162 seems to be an anomoly. The next lowest one was 190ish. The base boost from the spleen items should be ~40 substats. 2*40=/=200--Supernova163 23:53, 23 June 2006 (CDT)
For anybody interested, it doesn't seem to increase the effects of chewing a wad. Used a bag then gnawed some wads. Got a fairly normal (non-doubled) stat gain.--Glazius 12:51, 4 July 2006 (CDT)
- July 10 - The goofiness with homeopathic healing powder and multiuse of spleen items has been smoothed out. New update. What do we do now??? Does it mean...--Desertmagic 19:42, 10 July 2006 (CDT)
- Yes... It only affects 1 spleen item now. Ah well... There's always munchie pills. --Exdeath 19:33, 11 July 2006 (CDT)
The powder now works correctly on wads:
You gain 1 Adventure. You gain 33 Strengthliness. You gain 90 Wizardliness. You gain 9 Cheek. You acquire an effect: Stenchtastic (duration: 10 Adventures)
(This is on a myst stat day). It appears to 2x it. It does not increase the adventures. --Shagie 23:38, 14 July 2006 (CDT)
This does work on Voodoo Snuff, it doubled the enchantness. You can't exactly figure out how one is supposed to consume powdered hand, so you pour it in your ear. It sounds like dark secrets... You gain 8 Adventures. You gain 245 Enchantedness. --JoltCola 07:24, 13 July 2008 (CDT)
