Post-Ascension, Pre-Level 11

Can this adventure be obtained after ascending but before doing the Level 11 quest? If yes, can a demon name be obtained?--Mis2027 13:25, 17 July 2007 (CDT)

You won't have Lord Spookyraven's ear trumpet.... -MarcyRoni 08:17, 29 July 2007 (CDT)
Oops, my bad, I have hardcore on the brain ;) I doubt it'd work regardless, as the summoning chamber won't be open yet. But it's something to test! -MarcyRoni 08:18, 29 July 2007 (CDT)

My L9 Sauceror (Eldarion) just got Hoom Hah with Lord Spookyraven's ear trumpet equipped and DID get a demon name!! This opens up the remote possibility that a L4-5 Muscle or Moxie class with an inflated Myst (>= 40) can find a demon name in Cola Wars Battlefield! Anyone brave enough to try? I'd recommend a casual ascension as the easiest way to do this.--Mis2027 15:47, 12 August 2007 (CDT)

The fact that it should usually be impossible to do makes me think there probably isn't a demon waiting there. However, I think someone should still spade it out, because it's hilarious. --NoHassles 06:42, 20 August 2007 (CDT)

Is this a one-timer?

I think I had the Hoom Hah adventure before I had the ear trumpet. Now I'm burning adventures with the trumpet equipped, and am not getting the adventure again. Do I have to wait for next ascension? ColtsScore 05:42, 8 August 2007 (CDT)

Definitely NOT one-time...you're just getting bad luck, sorry. I've hit it multiple times on each character without any ascensions.--Mis2027 12:26, 8 August 2007 (CDT)

can anyone say for sure that you can get the demon name again if you clicked past it the first time you got the adventure? not that it's repeating adv, I got that, just that you can actually see what the name is more than once. --Davydd 05:29, 11 August 2007 (CDT)

I think its a really rare adventure. I have just spent 350 adventures in the forest and did not encounter this adventure once. --Darkness 08:50, 11 August 2007 (CDT)

I got a demon name adventure not to much longer after I ascended (and had no ear trumpet so didnt hear a demon name). Maybe the demon name adventures have a hidden counter like the semi-rares (but a different counter that may or maynot carry over ascensions) and they only show up every X turns if you happen to be in a zone where you can encounter a demon name. ??? Just a thought.--Darkness 00:55, 12 August 2007 (CDT)

Think it's possible that you can't find a demon if you've already summoned one for the day? --LegendaryBard 01:16, 18 August 2007 (CDT)

Interesting idea. I've spent 200 adventures today trying to get it, but the first thing I did was summon a demon. I'll try it tomorrow without summoning.--Stufff 12:53, 27 August 2007 (CDT)

Nope, has no impact...just got a demon name after summoning.--Mis2027 10:56, 28 August 2007 (CDT)

Some preliminary findings regarding frequency

  • it's definitely possible to get multiple demon names in one day
  • summoning a demon doesn't preclude getting a demon name adventure
  • frequency appears probabilistic, not counter based (one of my characters got 4 in 270 adventures, another got 2 in 280 adventures)

--Mis2027 10:56, 28 August 2007 (CDT)

  • A non-counter based system would make sense. I think I read somewhere that the battlefield heroes work on a rare superlikely system, where you have a very small chance each turn in the (later) battlefield of them occuring instead of a regular fight. The demon names might work under the same system, where you have a ~1% chance each turn in the various zones containing demon names of having the name adventure occur.--QuantumNightmare 13:04, 28 August 2007 (CDT)
    • I just got Hoom Hah twice in quick succession. On turns 508 and 534 when looking for hidden temple bits. I left the forest for 7 turns during that 26 turn period but was there for a few turns before and after, so 27 turns in forest. --Darkness 03:12, 15 June 2008 (CDT)
    • I just got hoom-hah twice is a row in a bad moon run.--Darkness 05:36, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Has anyone gotten this since the redo of the noncombats in this area? I just burned ~120 adventures trying to get it, which seems unlikely given the other spading. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Peterlorre (talkcontribs) on 17:01, 13 September 2010

  1. while something may have changed, 120 turns doesn't seem excessive, given the giant amounts of whining elsewhere on this topic. average screwage, i'd say, although you could get jick to check the code on the radio.

    • Demon Name adventures are 1/150 superlikely rolls. Yes, I have gotten it since the change, and still at approximately the same 1/150 that I expect. --RoyalTonberry 00:16, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Superlikely with Rejection chance

So I just had a 10 turn Spooky Forest. No Aroboreal Respites before turn 10. Hoom Hah on turn 9. The zone is 0 indexed, so I'd expect the superlikely on either turn 8 or 9. It rolled 50/50 for the superlikelies, didn't reject, and I got Hoom Hah instead of the Arboreal Respite superlikely. Turn run down in the forest: 1 bumper, 2 desk, 3 desk 4 desk 5 screambat 6 wolfman 7 bar 8 mummy 9 Hoom Hah 10 Arboreal respite. Based on Ezandora's data (165 instances in 30225 turns), it rejects 99.5% of the chance (you'd get it roughly 1/200 of the time).
